Is it not a Mark Addie?
Yes, Think you are right.. But which one???
Anyone like to guess??
Bear with me Mark12…
I need convincing that the ‘action shot’ from the film they have used in the book is actually PS915…
If you look at the 2 images below. It does not look like a PRXIX to me. Okay they heavily modified them…
The obvious differences are Rudder, Prop, Canopy, Aerial mast, Tailwheel, Radiators??
Mark12 convince me please…
Interpreting B/W images it seems PS915 when operated by the THUM flight had at least two liveries, overall silver and overall PR Blue both sporting the post WWII ‘A’ type roundel and equi-coloured fin flash. Spinner colour varied over the period and an underwing serial was carried initially.
Mark
Pictures in ‘Born Again, Spitfire PS915’ shows it painted in Silver with a red spinner and underwing serials in 1954 and in 1956 it was re-painted in PRU Blue with a Yellow spinner…
Jamie
Pictures look fine..
Apart from the earlier comment on sharpness, My only other comment would be composition…
Your shot of RN201, the first shot??
You have cropped the front and tail off and that fuel tanker in the background??
Sometimes you can’t do much about the background, sometimes you just need to be patient.
Is the aircraft stationary? Is the engine running? One of the best features of a spitfire, in fact most prop driven aircraft is the front end complete with prop.
May I suggest if you have to take a close shot, try getting the front end in with the prop, it makes a more interesting picture.
The first two pictures are cropped differently. Which one do you prefer?
The other two are just examples with good and ‘bad’ backgrounds.
Apart from that, well done..
The thing that has changed is the cover.. and for me the cover on this new region 1 disc looks great..
I have not seen it, But, If you have a Region 1 or multi region DVD player, Check this.

Is there room for a fat one???
I hope to be there…
At a quick glance, I can not see Pearl Harbour, crap film but a lot of aviation content.
Plus Dark Blue World, now this one I do like…
The Spitfires painted as Messerschmitts surely had to be radio controlled models.
Mark
I agree. if you look at this image. It seems to have the PRXI deep lower engine cowling…
I have had that book on order from Amazon.ca for about 3 weeks, looking forward to getting it.
Any other books you would recommend about the Malta blitz?
Have to stock up before the snow sets in.
Thanks again
Dave
There a couple of other books not mentioned. Two I picked up in Malta last week.
Malta George Cross – Victory in the Air, It lists all types of aircraft, used on all three sides, and goes into great detail of their uses during the conflict. 255 pages and a great read.
Lest We Forget, lists all known names of Royal Air Force and Commonwealth Air Forces Servicemen lost in the defence of Malta.
Also avaliable were 2 version of 249 Squadron whilst in Malta.
Does this count..
A privately owned Gazelle based at Rochester.. carries the serial XX406..
When you consider how well the ‘Dark Blue World’ team did with Battle of Britain outtakes and some electronic wizardry, there really shouldn’t be any excuse for this any more – although as another poster said, that it keeps the Harvard in the air is surely a good thing.
Yes.. But they still used real planes in the film for the main flying sequences…
CGI was only used for the battle/damage scenes and when they wanted to show more aircraft, something they also did in the Battle of Britain film…
Superb piccies.
The Spitfire Take-off looks stunning! Well Done!!!
I agree, a stunning picture especially as it was at 1/20th..
But I think with full flaps, it is landing….
Skyraider3D can you tell me what gear you are you using?
Try this..
TO ADD TEXT TO PICS AND SAVE AS JPEGs through PHOTOSHOP:
· Get your image ready in Photoshop – either new or from file
· Click on LAYER>NEW>LAYER – this brings a “New Layer” menu box onto the screen.
· Leave OPACITY at 100% (unless you want to “fade” your text) but change MODE to “Overlay” from its drop-down box. Click on OK. This starts up a transparent “sheet” overlaid on the existing photo.
· Now place your text on the new layer as you would normally and OK that.
· To save as a JPEG click on LAYER>FLATTEN IMAGE
· Now FILE>SAVE (or SAVE AS if you are working on a fresh unsaved scan)
Good Luck.
Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere before, but does anybody have a nice workflow for adding copyright text to an image.
Until recently I haven’t really bothered, but every now and again I get a good image that I’d like to ‘put my name to’ 🙂
I am able to cobble something together but it is rather long winded and a not particulary efficient method.
Grateful for any advice
Kilvy
What software are you using??
