SO…
I am confused.. How many did we finally get to?
Out of the 213 (on my list) Spitfires still around, what was the final count on ‘airworthy’ and ‘under restoration to airworthy condition’?
Thanks for that.
I was looking so hard, I totally missed that one….
According to AIC47/2005 the London flypast contingent is leaving Duxford starting at 15:20 UTC as a section of 5 aircraft and then 4 further sections. It further states that after the flypast they will split into three sections and formation aircraft not landing at Duxford will commence their recovery to base from the Duxford overhead.
Does anyone know what is taking part in the London Flypast?
David, it’s always completely amazed me that aircraft restoration attracts such a terribly low hourly rate when compared to car servicing. We should all abandon our qualifications and retrain as plumbers, it’s far more lucrative.
Perhaps it is because takes considerably longer to restore an airplane than it does to service a car….
If you payed the same rates and took the same time, well… There would be more planes in the air…
Hopefully i’ll be able to see the cockpit fitted when i visit this weekend,
Do you know something I don’t?
Or are you guessing? Or should that be hoping?
It isn’t worth the full price they ask for it but I suppose that will be Ubisoft’s decision not Oleg Madox’s.
Iv’e just paid £17.99 for mine. Is that a good price? What is the going rate??
Kidlington, which I think is near Oxford!
Yes Oxford which is pronounced CAMBRIDGE…
Should be quite a day..
You have TWO Sea Hurricanes listed…
Is it one doing two displays????
Looking at the state of the aircraft, it did not look as if they were going to try to get it airbourne…
Still time before Legends…
Great pictures…
She taxied again today, and who knows, she may well fly later. There are forum photographers still on location, so watch this space…….
When I left at 5pm, the Grace Spitfire was landing for the 3rd time.
The Hawk and the Hurricane had been taken back into the hanger where people were working on them, while the Spit EP120 and P40 were still outside on the grass…
Good to meet you Darren and Damien..
The date mid 1979 by reference to a comparison image.
Mark
Yes, it looks like you are right as usual.
1979, August, Rochester Air Display.
Hopefully Lewis will confirm…
A Marina, a MkII Cortina, long haired St John’s Ambulance so we are talking mid/late 1970’s in the UK.
Are you sure it’s a Marina? Looks like a Hillman (na Chrysler) Avenger estate..
But wait.. is that a Peanut in the background? A powder Blue Austin A35 Peanut..
Was trying to see if it is at an air display.. Rochester always seemed to hold their displays July/August time. Weather does not look to good for summer! The ground seems ‘heavy’ and people are wearing large coats.
Although the Hotel has not been built yet, it seems too close to the taxiway used!
Mark12, I think you better give Lewis a call…
Can you let us know when you know?
Nah, fixed tail wheel, clipped wings, guns…….. :p
I’ll stick with TB752, late-70s after rebuild, before first painting.
Correct…
Picture taken at Rochester airfield. BAE Systemz building in the back ground.
And then they left for DX:
They did a short display on the way at the Historic Dockyard at Chatham for the VE Day celebrations…
Lovely sight….
Tony C, I can’t see your pictures…..
JDK. It’s good to see someone taking the initiative..
Surley this should have be organised by the forums moderators??
