Dae Sun sold LPD to Indonesia few months ago. I don’t see why LPX wouldn’t be.
아니 별건 아니고 위 Location에 서산이 써있길래요. 좋은 사진들 감사합니다.
Yes, the F-5s will see limited replacement in A-50, and the KAI offer of F-50 was shot down by the air force, meaning there won’t be as many small, cheap fighters filling in the ranks in the ROKAF in the near future.
혹시 진짜 서산에 사세요?
Anyway, the JDAM order is not yet official, but a released plan the defense ministry is expected to push.
Are you certain that the 3rd F-16 pic is KF-16? I don’t see IFF antenna, which means its few early deliveries of the aircraft if it is ROKAF Block52. Also, ROKAF doesn’t usualy carry AMRAAMs at wingtip station. The camo is ROKAF ghostgray mix, but….
These things require heavy training, close to being a sniper I would personally say. British Starburst or the Javeline (laser-guided) had gotten a few complaints that it requires to much extensive training for enlisted to use properly on the field. MANPADs should be point-and-shoot weapons. They aren’t there to kill aircrafts, they’re there to make aircrafts nervous, maybe break off approach at times, and (only rarely) actually kill them.
F-16 has relatively small head-on RCS return for its size, while MKI has somewhat larger as compared to the Su-27? Maybe around 10m^2 range. It should have been enough to even out with order Russian radars for the F-16 if it had newer V7 or V9 mod of APG-68, but the MKI has th BARS… The MKI will have superior detection range, and with its BVR missile, will take advantage of that.
I think the Falcon turning radius has been question of many since it appears to change pretty quickly depending on the alitude. Despite that, however, F-16’s continuous turning rate shouldn’t be able to match newest F-15s with its more powerful engines. Since Flankers are known for better turning rate than the Eagles, I suppose F-16s should avoid getting caught up in close combat with MKIs, especially with the HMS. However, if we’re talking about the select F-16s that have the Python4 or AIM-9X with HMCS, the game plan changes. Despite the turning rate changes, or the power of the aircrafts, I’m going to bet the battle will turn out evenly, especially since MKIs are larger targets for the pilots to follow. Off-boresight missiles changed WVR combat.
F-15K has IRST in place on the LANTIRN pylon under the right air intake I believe. As for the Indian Su-30, it can kiss K’s AIM-9X and JHMCS.
re:
I did not suggest KDX-3 for the topic, so don’t attack me for it just because I’m Korean.
KD-2 is equipped with DSQS-21BZ bow-mounted sonar. It’s a disappointment considering them size of the ship and its potential. The ship is, however, equipped with Black Dragon TAS sonar and possibility of LOFAR type being mounted in the future. It does not have VLASROC, though in the future I believe there is a possibility that Korean anti-sub missile will be equipped with VLS addition. It still carries Lynx, one of its weaknesses in the ASW arena.
It’s BlockIV, already delivered and loaded. On the RIMPAC2004, KD-2 DDG-975 fired and hit a drone from 102km out. This was a test against high-flying, slow-moving target drone, but at least we know KD-2 can hit a target outside MW-08 scanning range with SPG-49 and STIR-240 running the show. SMART-S would help things out greatly, but they’re no show, so KD-2 is stuck with limited fleet-defense and closer defense system once ROKN acquires ESSMs.
It appears KD-2 has the BlockII Harpoons loaded, though supposedly the SSM-700K will replace Harpoons in service on future ships. The range data on SSM-700K appears to be 130km, though the honest answer is I don’t know. They did say it has longer range than Harpoon, but depends on which Harpoon they were referring to.
South Korea will deploy 300km class cruise missile on KDX-3. Space has been reserved for KD-2, but it seems unlikely that the government will deploy the missiles on these class.
As for the gentleman who seems very eager to pick a fight with me, I’m simply providing info, no need to get all worked up over it.
KD-2 is 5000ton general purpose destroyer with focus on the AAW segment of its combat capability. 32 cell Mk41 is loaded with SM-2MR missiles. It’s a shady department in terms of DDG. It’s on the level with non-AEGIS era air defense ships, but has been designed to work in supporting role with the KDX-3. KDX-3 has begun construction, btw, with expected launch date of early 2008.
The name of the radar would be SPY-1 series. AEGIS is the integrated combat systems. I’ve heard lot about Type52C, but have actually gotten very little real info on it. I think it’s a first honest attempt by PLAN to integrate a combat platform. There has been a lot of rumors about Chinese system integration capability, most suggesting that its not on par with its appearances. Again, everything is a rumor, so we’ll just have to wait few years for this thing to actually get on the water before considering them.
Well…
He did say physical. K-MSAM would never perform on the levels of S300 or Patriot–despite what some civilian authority may try to claim. It is a Hawk replacement, though developed with help of whom I don’t know. It almost reminds of the Type02 MSAM, the Japanese product for Chu-SAM replacement. There are great differences of course, such as 02 missile having active radar seeker, or KMSAM having TVC/rocket control, but the physical resemblence…
Electronic warfare system for F-16s, F-4s and cargo aircrafts have been developed and deployed. Program named ALQ-X, to be a successor to the domestically developed ALQ-88AK, also has a derivative in naval arena. Naval EW system called SONATA has been deployed with KDX-2 ships.
Korea has also developed a SAR system. It’s only a small test version right now, but a fully functional one would be developed before long.
Korea has also delved into ASW warfare, first with the K-721 Whiteshark torpedo, then the Blue Shark light-weight torpedo. A towed-array passive sonar system have been developed and deployed with the KDX-series. A new heavy-weight torpedo, supposedly superior to the German Seahake torpedo we are recieving with U214, is also rumored to be under developement.
I’m sure I’m missing many, but these are some of the recent developement that have both surprised and pleased me.
LCF for me too. Something about that ship….. 🙂
