Crew were Polish, T/o Hemswell 23:53 Shot down by night fighter.

One other Wellington from 300 Sqn was lost on the same night on landing back at Lindholme.

The models that Rover produce as basically sounds cars, the 75 is well built and reliable, the MGF is Britain’s best selling sports cars.

The trouble is in the small car sector where the 25/45 has to battle it out with the likes of the Focus and Astra, the car is too long in the tooth and badly needs replacing. This takes money which Rover just hasn’t got, it was hoping for the Chinese investment to help introduce new cars. The paltry £6m injected by the Gov’t this week won’t go far, a case of too little too late.

Unfortunately the sprawling Longbridge plant is uneconomical as well, unlike the Abingdon plant where they build the Mini which was retained by BMW because it is a much more modern set up.

I hope Rover survives, but I’m beginning to think that it will take some sort of miracle.

Could you imagine the French or German Gov’t sitting back and watching BMW, VW, Renault or Peugeot going down the pan ????? Mind you the EU has stuck it’s oar in wanting full details of the £6m loan by the UK Gov’t.
