Oh the wonders of modern technology. Most of us kept abreast of events over here. Beacons were set up through-out the country to send messages and we sent runners with the results to the far flung corners of the Empire.

If it wasn’t for the Treaty of Alliance signed on 6 February 1778, the US would still be the 93rd British county. Maybe the US helped to liberate France in 1944, but France did it first !!!! Who’s grateful now ??????

If you have doubts, there is a large monument that stands proud on Bedloes Island over looking New York Harbour. It was donated to the people of United States by the people of France on 4 July 1884, completed and accepted on 18 October 1886 in recognition of the friendship established between the two countries during the American Revolution. Ring any bells ?????
