You were on the main tower Martin, we moved from there because it was just too far away for the smaller stuff.

Nice pictures but they have turned me green with envy. Why can’t we get the Swedes over here – and FOUR Magisters…

From what I understand talking to a few people over here during the show and its build up, UK organisers are somewhat blinkered. But as I don’t get to come across for UK shows at present due to business commitments, I can’t really comment myself.

Thank you, it’s a great show and always has something different not normally seen in the UK.

Andy, that’s what happens when it’s put into the hands of amateurs !

Must go. Off to work on some other “pointless exercise” for TV and get organised for participation in another “pointless exercise” in January and participation in the RAF annual Long March re-creation.;)

Andy, I’ve said it here before and I am going to say it again, why the hell don’t you leave it to the professionals, you “amateurs” are just wasting time, space and are just not up to the task 🙂

I can get a message to him, I’m sure.

Feel free to do so, two strong links, i.e Scheidhauer crash landing in Jersey and Roy Brouard Langlois who was #80 out of the tunnel and one of the first to be captured when the escape was discovered. He came from Guernsey. A very tentative link is a PRU pilot called Amos who was shot down over Guernsey and ended up sharing the same hut as Brickhill.

I wonder if Flt Lt John “Frenchie” Le Cornu was/is aware of a number of links with Jersey, our immediate neighbour Guernsey and Escape 200 ?

I spent last night working for the Press Association, covering the horrendous story of a man in his 30s who walked into a flat in St Helier, killed his wife, his farther in law, a friend of his wife and three children between the ages of 6 and 18 months. He is now in hospital after surgery to repair wounds which appear to be self inflicted.

Last night was adrenaline fuelled, PA asked us if we were able to get images, which we did and those images are being circulated around the world. Sadly it has put Jersey on the international stage for all the wrong reasons.

This morning I logged onto the interweb after 3 hours of sleep to catch up on the previous nights events, before returning to the scene to join the throng of the world’s media that has descended on our tiny island. I didn’t know the family or their friends, they were Polish, but I found myself in tears and I don’t know why, part shock, part tiredness it’s beyond me.

How do you legislate for the actions of one random person, you can’t !!! For all the will in the world, humans have free will and control over their actions. A Gov’t can come up with as many laws as they wish, it will not stop random acts of violence by individuals or collectives.

In all fairness the judges can only sentence within the legal frame work of the laws in place. You don’t state what the individuals were fined £150 or jailed for, if this was the maximum for these particular crimes, then that is all the judge can impose.

Look here for some idea of sentencing powers :-

For instance rioting appears to have a maximum sentence of ten years !

“Cuts do not make looters and thieves”

It’s not often I agree with a leftist like Diane Abbot but on this occasion I agree whole heartedly. This has ****** all to do with a disenfranchised youth, cuts, social depravation etc.

She also makes another good point on the BBC this morning :-

“We have to regain control of the streets & we have to have a decisive strategy for doing that. One thing I think we should consider is some sort of curfew. Very hard to enforce in a 24hr city but what’s happening is kids are sitting at home, seeing other kids looting trainer shops, looting phone shops, & thinking ‘I’ll have some of that’. What we can’t have is increasing numbers of young people coming out to loot night after night”

It’s at times like this all sides of the house should put down their differences, not try to score political points and come together to sort a mess like this out.
