RE: Really silly question
This may have something to do with our colonial cousins in the southern hemisphere driving on the same side of the road as we do in the UK
However which way do the cement trucks in those odd countries that drive on the wrong side of the road revolve, may be it’s got something to torque and oversteer?

Pity we could have address all our junk mail to him, it would have kept him busy for several months.

RE: God Save The Queen
hate doing this on a topic that’s meant to be light hearted, and it’s funny how this always seems to happen on this notice board, but in answer to you comment Ivan.
In the UK today the ‘New’ Labour governments has such a large majority that if they wanted to paint every lamp-post in the UK red then they have the means and mandate to do so, despite what every opposition is posed, they can choose to ignore it.
Unfortunately the main opposition the “Tories” are so set on self-destruction that they are in danger of becoming marginalized and anyway don’t have any power to stop the present Government from doing just as they please. The Lib Dems would have to see such a unprecedented swing in the polls to get themselves elected, something I’, sure hasn’t happened in British politics in recent history.
The next General Election is not for another 2 to 3 years, and it is a fact of politics that the voting public has a very short memory, what happens this year will have very little if any effect on the outcome of the election when it happens. So unless there is a dramatic change in the political structure of this country at this present time there is no viable or credible alternative to the regime that we have at present
Ivan if you can think of a credible alternative I as well as the population of the UK would love to hear it.

RE: God Save The Queen
Have to disagree Rabie
I assume that you are referring to Maggie T’s Government, God Save the Queen made it to No.2 in the charts (Or was it No.1 !!!) in 1977 the time on the Silver Jubilee, Jim Callaghan’s Labour Government were in power, I won’t call him or his cronies particularly Fascist
Maggie God bless her came to power in 1979.
I looked up totaliterianis in my Roget’s thesaurus the definitions could easily be applied to Mr Blairs style of leadership, I quote
Absolute, absolutist, arbitrary, authoritarian, autocratic, dictatorial, fascistic, undermocratic, illiberal, monolithic, Nazi, oppressive, despotic, tyrannical.
Unfortunately there is no credible alternative at this present time.
As to great Lyrics,
Learning to Fly by Pink Floyd springs to mind.
Into the distance, a ribbon of black
Stretched to the point of no turning back
A flight of fancy on a windswept field
Standing alone my senses reeled
A fatal attraction holding me fast, how
Can I escape this irresistible grasp?
Can’t keep my eyes from the circling skies
Tongue-tied and twisted Just an earth-bound misfit, I
Ice is forming on the tips of my wings
Unheeded warnings, I thought I thought of everything
No navigator to guide my way home
Unladened, empty and turned to stone
A soul in tension that’s learning to fly
Condition grounded but determined to try
Can’t keep my eyes from the circling skies
Tongue-tied and twisted just an earth-bound misfit, I
Above the planet on a wing and a prayer,
My grubby halo, a vapour trail in the empty air,
Across the clouds I see my shadow fly
Out of the corner of my watering eye
A dream unthreatened by the morning light
Could blow this soul right through the roof of the night
There’s no sensation to compare with this
Suspended animation, A state of bliss
Can’t keep my eyes from the circling skies
Tongue-tied and twisted just an earth-bound misfit, I

Most of my 137 Sqn research has been conected with the Whirlwind, I do however has the address of an armourer who served between Jan 44 and Jan 45 before being njured at Eindhoven. There’s a slight chance that he may be able to help you.

RE: Peace Protestors
Peace Protesters,
I expect are the same people who 12 months ago were calling for an end to sanctions against Iraq, because the only people who were affected were the poor and innocent, who were dying in their 1000’s through starvation and the poor medical care brought on by the sanctions.
Now we hear that sanctions should be given a chance to work, because a war would kill 1000’s of innocent people. Sorry I’m not sure of this logic.
Also on UK TV this morning was a “peace” campaigner who claimed that war should not happen because I quote ” the West supplied Iraq with it’s arms of mass destruction”.
I agree that the west has in the past supply arms to Iraq but surely Iraq’s armed forces are/were predominately Russian equipped. I think the who supplied what and where argument in irrelevant, if these weapons are turned against us then we should be able to strike back regardless.
In this case the “it’s all about oil” is also with out foundation, Iraq has only been contributed a small amount of oil to the worlds oil consumption over the past 12 years, therefore why does the West need to invade Iraq to take over something that has very little effect our present day or future economies?

RE: Be Happy!!!!!!!!!
Malta the End of the Month for a week.
Who in their right mind would want to go to Guernsey, not only is it the only place I know that has a don’t look a like competition, they all have six digits to each hand and foot as well as horns and tails.
Mind you I can confirm that they at least now have colour TV, I saw two guys painting one on the quay the last time I stopped off whilst returning home.
