The Mustang is Marinell.
As I said earlier, it is nothing like the halftrack gun mount which is a massive mount in comparison bearing no resemblance to this item at all.
Hmm, that’s an M3A1 light tank hull with a Maxon quad .50 mount, a very substantial piece of equipment. The unknown mount is not robust enough for
.50 cals so I imagine it’s for .30 or a .303.
The last check you do is ‘controls-full, free and correct’, that should have shown it up. However, the point of a walkround is to find things like this.
Doh! Yes, it was on Sennybridge when I took that picture too….. Sorry, brain fade. I have not seen any aircraft on Otterburn though I havn’t been there since 1994.
This Meteor is on Otterburn.

Tain is still an RAF range although the airfield is not used. There are lots of AFVs there but no aircraft AFAIK.
No but I do have some engines! And some Meteors…..:D
A slight correction to your list, the M3 Stuart used the Continental W670 radial, a seven cylinder also used in LVTs.
Thanks to nigelrobs suggestion, John Lewis have sent me a copy of the picture edskarf mentions showing the nose and right wing of my Auster. I would still love to find a better picture of the whole thing or a copy of Aviation News of 23 October- 5 November 1992 which had that picture in an article on Halifax LV907.
YAK 11 and i have been racking our brains but we remembered their names – the Stennard Brothers – Derek and Richard!
Me brain dont ‘alf ‘urt…
Close, but no cigar! Derek, Steven and Robert Stennett.
Tim, PM sent.

No wind up, I knew it could not be TBMs and the general concencus of opinion was either Yaks or Harvards. It was a formation of four rather than a loose gaggle.
Coincidentally, a friend of mine claims that four flew over him in Dorset this afternoon…… Anybody know what they might have been?
If you follow the first link posted, there is another picture taken later showing the malcolm hood and the fin fillet. The invasion stripes are probably a little out of place for that build standard though.
I would imagine it’s because she is restored as a replica of Don Brooks fathers aircraft. I have read at least one posting on the net where someone thinks it is the original Liberty Belle returning to the UK!
