Let’s just hope that, by the time that US and others are able to build these things, humanity has already discovered that there are other ways to settle differences than stupidly blowing things up
There will always be a place for armed forces.
I thought the British transfered the “special” relationship to France?
No, that was the Americans. I believe Obamas words were something like “America has no greater friend than France”
IMO we should have kept closer ties (trade and otherwise) with the Commonwealth countries. The European union do us no favours.
No idea if this has been mentioned previously; an interesting view of egkb on Google maps currently. Taken during a recent AirFair (static VC10 – 2010?). Eight red arrows rolling out along the runway with one (red 8 judging by the spacing) apparently doing a go around to the northeast of the runway threshold.
They seem to have a full house! BBMF, Sally B, spitfires etc
A different take on a well covered subject, I really enjoyed it. My main issue was every time the Spit was about to fly over, they’d drown half the sound out with backing music.
Its not surprising that the Typhoon did. Eurofighter also reported in January that it could take off in all Swiss military airports fully loaded and without the use of afterburners.
The Swiss also thought it would be a good idea to evaluate the 3 aircrafts “footprint”…Whether they’re too “noisey” or not…Deadly serious. Not surprising really since they don’t allow any form of motorsport in Switzerland.
So when would Switzerland expect to take delivery of the winning aircraft?
Contrary to popular belief, that is nothing to do with noise. It relates to a horrific crash.
Are the Warbirds genuine or replicas? The 262 look great in it’s fairly unusual scheme.
Star Wars is where those designs belong! Next-generation combat aircraft will not need to be manned.
While UAVs will be rife, there will be a place for manned combat aircraft for many years to come.
Whatever it is, it’s sure to be at Legends next year 🙂
P9374 is certainly a looker 😎
What’s the green aircraft, behind the F-8 and next to the Mirage?
Ahhh resorting to personal insults, the last the resort of the man that has been proven wrong 😀
As for going back to Uni, I’m going to.
Using the evidence I was given, it was the conclusion I came to 😀
LOL at you directing a massive long rant at me that is completely unrelated to what I actually wrote.
Remember, READ, then WRITE. If you write first, then you end up with a rant that is completely wrong. I have a much better idea of what the current force make up is than you, but thanks for the incomplete update, I’ll treasure it on my bonfire 😉
Read what? “Not something we can rely on”
The fact that you make ridiculous sweeping statements, and used “LOL”, leads me to believe that you’re a child, adolescent at best 🙂
Go back to school 🙂
Not something we can rely on.
Are you suggesting that we should hoard arms that the country doesn’t actually require?
I hate to break it to you, but we no longer have a large empire that requires a huge navy. For the size/number of our overseas territories, our armed forces will be more than capable of defending our interests.
We also have a fairly formidable nuclear deterrent too, should the worst occur. Any larger scale conflict would no doubt involve NATO, and I’m yet to see any good reason why our alliances wouldn’t be honoured?!
We certainly don’t want to be investing much more in our Armed forces than we currently have planned, and I think recent problems highlight more urgent uses of our budget tbh (ie sorting our economy out, the Police and improving the state of our roads are just a few!)
Considering the size of our territory now, I’d guess our Navy will be a good size for any forseeable defence/offence. Our strength is really dependent on our alliances now, which I’m glad to say is something we should be able to rely on.
🙁
