even Stansted had a LS code.
LS used to have a charter only base at STN, not sure if that’s still the case. Perhaps FlyMonarch can enlighten us.

Dean,
With regard to your style of moderation I would agree with you. Regarding the style of moderation in general, some people seem to have made the point that they don’t agree. FLYBYDONNI for example.
As for the sub-forums I don’t think I made myself very clear. I’m inclined towards not having the links at the top, but to incorporate them into this main forum so that everthing is together.
Also just to clarify I personally am quite happy with the forum, I’m just trying to think of solutions to the issues that people have raised.

Leaving the moderation issue to one side and concentrating on the ‘what to do with the forum’ question, one point that hasn’t been mentioned is that apart from some bankruptcies and security issues commercial aviation is fairly quiet at the moment which is bound to reflect in the forum. Most (admittedly not all) airlines are fairly quiet at the moment given the economic downturn. New routes, aircraft, products, liveries, etc. are few and far between for the time being.
I agree very strongly with the point that splitting the forum has been to it’s detriment. I had reservations when it happened and I think to some extent these have been proven, I know I seldom bother to look at the sub-forums.
My suggestions for you Dean:
1. Combine the photographic and trip report sub’s back into the main forum.
2. Let the threads run a little more. If we are happy to discuss a subject in CA then don’t force it off into another forum that most of us never venture into.
3. Concentrate the mod’ing more on conduct so that people aren’t made to feel unwelcome, not something I’ve experienced here but clearly some feel they have.
4. Perhaps a system that allows people to ‘stand’ for mod every so often. This would give people who feel a mod should be moved on the chance to ‘put up or shut up’ by showing that they can do a better job rather than have a public slanging match.
My suggestions for us all:
1. Chalk this whole thing up to experience.
2. Put it behind us.
3. Move on.

I have clearly missed something as I have NO idea what has caused this problem, but for what it’s worth I would be very sad to see Lance stand down as either a member or a mod.
As a member I love looking at his photography, as a mod I think he (along with Deano) does a great job and his one line put-downs make me laugh out loud on occassion.

I flew from Glasgow to Girona on G-BECH on 9th Setember 1982. The first of many great flights with Britannia which in many ways influenced my decision to become Cabin Crew.

For a country so obsessed with the weather we really are useless at dealing with it.
Snow, rain, cold, heat, wind… anything seems to grind us to a halt these days. I think it’s more to do with how defeatest we have become as a nation.
The scandinavians would laugh if they saw us at the moment, they just dig their way out and get on with it.

They must be some of the first pic’s on the ‘net of GR ATR G-BWDB repainted into the billboard livery.

Thanks Josh.

On a similar note I saw an Eastern Saab 2000 at LGW yesterday lunchtime. Anyone know why it was there?

But to face a dire medical emergency with limited training and equipment (and a prayer that there’s a Doctor amongst the passengers) shows a level of professionalism rarely equalled. And then, after dropping off the passenger, continuing with the rest of the flight to its original destination?
I remember some years ago having to deal with a lady who’d had a heart attack. Defib, CPR, medical advice centre (which we would use rather than PA for a doctor) on the radio, oxygen, drugs, etc. We ended up diverting which included briefing the pax that rear doors were not usable in an emergency (as patient was on the floor in the rear galley).
Customs formalities dealt with, we handed the patient over to paramedics, set off again and within 15 minutes I was serving lunch in business class. Funny job really!
I’m glad to say the lady survived and by coincidence I have carried her on another flight since.
On the subject of disclaimers, we have the opposite, a letter advising that so long as a doctor can prove their qualifications they are indemnified for the results of their actions or law-suits arrising from them.

I’ve heard rumour that Flybe are looking at bmi Regional and/or bmi Baby as possible purchases. Anyone else heard this?
It would be a real shame if bmi were to disappear.

I bet the earth moves as that one flies past.
What’s the story with the rather sad looking 727 in the background?

So what about the colour scheme? When does that date the picture? A red top to the Fin, blue cheat line with no kick down at the forward end. How long was that scheme around and when was it replaced?
The ‘British Red Tail’ colour scheme was introduced in June 1980 and replaced by the ‘Landor’ colour scheme in December 1984.
The white Ford Transit by the mobile staircase has the pre-1978 front end
It’s not very clear in the photo but I think that’s the later transit with the long indicators (rather than round) to the side of the headlights (rather than under), available from 1978 to 1986. Now who’s a white van anorak?

I flew on G-BZHA on Saturday morning. I wonder if that was when you got that picture.

That is because of an agreement between the UK and Irish governments that allowed travel without the use of a passport (I believe this agreement has now been removed). The boarding card was presented only to establish where you had arrived from.
A similar system is in place for arrivals in the UK from the Channel Islands. Because they are outside the UK, arrivals from the Channel Islands technically have to clear immigration, but an agreement is in place that no passport is required as long as a boarding card is presented to prove where you have come from.
Going back to the original thread, what happened with your friends Bmused55?
