😀 😀 She could become as famous and popular as James Bond, under the right agent!!!
a secret agent? 😀
I once took my Triumph GT6 off the road for a week to sort out a problem with the brakes. I said at the time it would be fixed for a show in two weeks time. 5 YEARS later, she was still in the garage being assembled after I found a few other little snags which required a complete re-build.
There will always be delays with whatever the engineering project. In the case of the Vulcan – they are breaking new ground, by virtue of the sheer scale of the project, and delays are inevitable.
Personally I don’t care when they fly her – I’ve waited long enough. I was 14 last time I saw her – so long as they do!
Patience….
What’s happening like? Are we starting on the Vulcan tyres? Also we have got some vulcan pilot manuals off Ebay just too see if they have any good info for us.
Regarding sunday, just hope you’re feeling strong, not giving any secrets away yet
It’s now October,it was supposed to fly in September and all the hot air has gone remarkably quiet. I really cannot see this becoming a reality anymore ?
Sorry if this sounds negative but press releases seem few and far considering the mighty public interest in this machine ever taking too the air .
Have you ever filled in 5000 job cards? 😀
Our newly donated timber began turning up today thanks to these guys:

The owners are very keen on helping charitable causes especially when it involves old aeroplanes – they are regular visitors to NEAM.
The sleepers will begin to arrive on monday – 3 truck loads!
Now… where to put it all.
It should be a good day on sunday, so we’ll have a photo fest!
Victor upper periscope mount is above the crew chiefs seat in the centre of the cockpit almost at the apex of the fuselage.
Can’t remember where the lower mount was… its been a long time since i WAS IN a Victor.
Vulcan – well documented in echo to the post a few above – 3 mounts:
AEO table, views lower fuse, u/c, bomb bay door. and upper surface (switchable)
Upper mounts x2: either side of cockpit canopy fairing .
Valiant ????
Hi
Try Richard Parr at retro avaiation, I belive he has reduced some 330’s to produce!
The company opposite air atlantique at Coventry. (they share a ramp)reduced some 360’s at the beginning of the year – may be useful since they have the same struts, etc. I just can’t remember the name of the company….
PAA is Pan American Airways
I love the short connies. Wonderful shape. The super constellation ruined the whole idea IMHO.
the maintenance pic is two strats and another connie (can’t ID the airline)
Nice pics.:D
Is this the sort of photo you need…?
Left photo is the pilots (port) example.
.
I’ll not bother then….:D 😀 😉
Hi.
At Dumfries and Galloway Aviation Museum, I’m at present working on a Jet Provost, a bit of a wreck as you can see from the photo. What instruments I can’t get I have made as long as I have a photo (Pilots Notes) I have to make the port and starboard oxygen controllers but the photo’s are to fuzzy. Has anyone please got a decent photo or a drawing, would be very grateful.Ken
Regarding Jp mk3’s – I am the custodian of two such fine beasties. Send your e-mail in a PM and I’ll see if ours have them still fitted and get some good photos. Won’t be til next week though….

all the best,
John
Thanks to that photo from Misha, and another which I have managed to get digitally remastered, I can now reveal that the paint line on the nose of the F86D IS CORRECT! The white band sits on the radome itself, which means that I don’t have to mess about stripping paint off the nose and re-aligning the bands.
The plan now is to assess whether the red and yellow on the nose needs to be re-painted anyway, and the colours painted onto the rocket pack once it has been treated and primed.
NEWS JUST IN: Sunderland Timber Supplies have donated a huge quantity of timber including a couple of HUNDRED railway sleepers. I’ll post more when we have taken delivery (they are delivering it too – THANKS GUYS!) and we have worked out exactly what we are going to do with them all. One suggestion is to lay a path edged with sleepers all the way to the Vulcan. Another is to use some in making a trench system for the re-enactors in the embankment along one side of the site using sleepers as safe, solid edges for the trenches. Failing that, we will be operating the 10.30 rail service to usworth……..:D Thanks to Paul (member for 2 weeks!) for setting that up!
We now have the paint for the Canberra! – 100 litres of paint! THANK YOU WILLIAMS. The same company have supplied rollers, brushes, sand paper, etc. Big thanks!
Paint for the Vulcan – the begging letter has reached the Managing Director of the company concerned, and will be delt with VERY soon. I will donate a huge tract of forum space to thanking all concened when the deal comes off either way. The forumite – who works in another department of that company, will hopefully read this (I know he’s keeping an eye on this thread), – has done amazing work and put in alot of time just because he wants to help, and believe me – all the credit for this deal is his. I don’t want to name him yet, unless he adds his own post after this one. YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE and you should be proud of what you have done so far!
There are other developments going on behind the scenes which will be revealed as and when they occur….;)
See, the BAPC can’t even get their membership lists right :diablo:
Its not the BAPC, I’m quite sure… more likely my error. I hate it when the messenger gets shot, hung, drawn, quartered, and generally maimed…:D Its a good job I have a sence of humour….
Good pics though. Do you have an estimated time for re-building the airframe, or are you going to keep it in pieces for a restoration?
Errr, no we’re not!
Just going what Brian said…:D I thought I coudn’t see you in the list!…
So there you are, Speke are not BAPC members either! YOU SHOULD BE! 😀
I’ll beat Brian with a stick tomorrow.
Either way, Caenarfon are NOT BAPC members.
(Sorry wv838 – that was probably my fault somewhere. I’ll take myself outside for a kicking…:D – post ammended too)
Not guilty!!!!!
Seriously though – could have been an oversight with the painting as the photos I have definitely show the band – if I could work out how to post I have a very nice colour team photo from the 50’s courtesy of Major Vince Gordon (team leader) which gives a very good view of the nose!!
could you e-mail it to me please?…. please?….. please……
PM’d!
I have the ‘The other historic aviation magazine’ Article, and NEAM’s file including the model decals etc, and some black and white pics…. A colour one would be great…
Cheers,
John
Whats the problem with the main gear? Can you post pics? I have a feeling that it might be from Birds???
25 years of salt air mate…. brobably a touch of birds too… The fescalised portion of the main shock is flaking at the base (where it joins to the bogie), and the top of the leg is the same. Simple cure – remove powder, find good metal, treat, prime and paint.
