Why should I remove it? If you don’t like it don’t read it. No one else is that bothered.

Why not use Guy Martin? He brims with genuine enthusiasm and passion and isn’t full of his own self importance. Having been in this industry for more years than I care to remember. I find the ex military ex concorde presenters so dull and passionless. I and many others don’t care about what they did or how they’d do it. And I’m sick of this BBC, ITV professional presenter accent. For the love of Christ there’s more to Britain than the South. And don’t forget an awful lot of these aeroplanes were built by Brummies, Mancunians, and west country yocals and the mighty Merlins etc were built in Derby Manchester etc.
So yes, Guy Martin gets my vote.
    Only my humble opinion.

No, I think people down south should remember there’s more to this country than “the south”

A very close friend of mine offered the IWM a considerable amount of money for the Shack, along with an offer to fund a bare metal paint job. He didn’t want the aeroplane moved from DX he just wanted access to various items. You can probably guess what happened. They made a snap short sighted decision and – The rest is history.
I won’t give out his name, suffice to say he has funded many projects around the country, he never asked for any recognition. He’s just waiting for Dx to ask him for help.
A refusal often affends. He will say NO.

I’m getting a bit fed up with the “protect Duxford – They listen – The premier Museum” brigade. If the people organising these events actually cared about it. They would realise the implications of there decisions. I have had to deal with Duxford for a long long time and I will say (waiting for a beating now) it’s got worse and worse. I understand they have to make money. But not at the expense of serving or retired, veteren service personnel. They have some fantastic people on the shop floor – but where in the name of all that is righteous do the find the organisers and management. It has to change,,,

This Merlin is the same one that was for sale in Haverhill. Gets around a bit doesn’t it. Nice to see the blocks are an inch clear of the crankcase too,,,,,,,

JUST a thought, but if this a hangar especially built for a rebuild of a Lancaster, would it not make sense for it to be used for a rebuild of a second Lancaster immediately afterwards……………

Why, it’s in a perfectly good hangar and the people who are looking after “Just Jane” probably have more experience than the team who will do PA474.

Duxford should do something with it soon, the only thing holding it together is dust and paint.

How do they manage to join the wing spars with the folding wing? I cant see anything obvious in the picture and I’ve always wondered was the wing weaker because of the joint?

A retractable pin, no weaker than any other carrier aircraft.
