RE: Astraeus 737 diverted after fans ‘riot’

I am also a Celtic fan, probably one of the few Norwegian Celtic fans there is πŸ™‚

This is a typical newspaper story. You cannot “Run riot” on an airplane. Rioting is when a large number of people go completely bonkers and try and cause damage to everything around them.

It never ceases to amaze me how people judge a group the same if they wear the same clothes, just like racists judge a group of people the same if they have the same skin colour. And innocent football fans often find themselves being held accountable for something another person they don’t even know did just bechause they have the same top on.

In spring 1998 i travelled to London to see my local team from Oslo take on Chelsea at Stamford bridge together with about 3500 other fans. All Ryan Air flights the week before and after the match were full of football fans. Inevitably there had been reports about a person here and there being drunk on the plane and such, but should i be held accountable for that?

On the day of the flight we took a bus to Oslo Torp, a ridiculous name for the airport, since it’s actually 2,5 hours from Oslo, in a different county. It was snowing heavliy, and we were all worried. After waiting for two hours at the airport in the departure lounge (where some people had bought stuff at the tax free and started drinking it bechause of the long wait..) we were told that the aircraft has had to land on OSL, about three and a half hours to the north. So it was back in the bus, go to OSL, and finally, after waiting at OSL for an hour we got on the flight.

Since we were flying RyanAir i didnt exactly expect a free lunch as an apology for us missing an entire day in London, but when i came to the aircraft, wearing my football top, I had not been drinking, i wasn’t angry bechause of the delay, i actually tried and smile to them as i boarded the aircraft, but i still got a very hostile reception from the crew. The aircraft was a mess, and had not been cleaned and the cabin crew did not greet me back when i said hello and tried to smile as i walked in. I still remember one of the women actually gave me one of those scary looks that only women can do when they are really pissed.

What the hell did i do?

The cabin crew remained hostile towards everyone thruout the journey, we had no food or drinks onboard and most people hadnt eaten for many hours. Then, a moron lit a cigarette in the bathroom. What a jerkoff i thought, and was glad when he put it out and returned to his seat without any arguments whatsoever. But still, the captain came on the microphone and told everyone that if “we did something like that again”, they would land somewhere and leave us all behind.

I dont know what happened on this aircraft, but i do know, that if you are a football fan and one in your group steps out of line, you lose all credibility.

    >Why is one of biggest capitalist cie asking for public
    >money? Capitalism point of view is fine when profits are
    >high and Tax money good when profits are gone ? That’s a
    >strange vision of capitalism !!!
    >They are complaining , about terrorist attacks , bad market
    >, competition , bad customers etc ….. I didn’t read about
    >MISMANAGEMENT !!!!

They can never say mismanagement. Besides, corporate CEOs get bonuses for everything they do. And if they are fired, they even get a “golden parachute” as we call it in Norway.

The director of Braathens Airline got a huge golden parachute when he left, and bechause of that expense, the airline was even worse off, so their only choice was to be bought by SAS and become a regional carrier for them.

    >I’d really like those fat cats to admit that they screwed
    >up.

They never would. Hell, even companies that make huge profit fire people just to save money, so that the bosses can meet their quotas so they get bonuses. πŸ™

    >However I’m afraid that UA is the first one , what about AA?

They going next, i think. But sometime the market has to turn, im not afraid of flying, and i never have. If the american networks, like FOX news who i think is the sickest of them all, stopped their scaremongering, perhaps the industry would recover faster.

Incidentally, i recommend the movie “Bowling for Columbine” !! πŸ™‚

RE: Norwegian government launches probe into 20 year old plane crash

There is no evidence to support that they shot it down, however one of the Sea Harriers collided with the Wideroe aircraft, and it broke apart. Well, that’s the theory anyway.. The evidence is quite overwhelming, and the military is doing a typical “pretends it didnt happen” coverup. There’s been talking about this every now and again in Norway, im glad it finally has come up properly, bechause there have been relatives of the dead that have been trying to find out what happened for a very long time.

    RE: Easyjet

Actually he said Easyjet has the most good looking crew in the industry, but as you can see, they could not come in today.. hehe

He also said that it was perfectly normal to dim the lights in the cabin during takeoff, bechause it would enhance the appearence of the cabin crew.. πŸ™‚

Very funny indeed, and i have to say its about bloody time someone try to have a bit of humour in what i think is the most arrogant industry in the world.

It says on the news that the baggage crews were back working now, so SAS expect to be back in normal operation this evening. Maybe they just needed a break?

I think this c/s is brilliant. Just like the world famous checkered cabs, it tells you exactly what this airline does. Get you from one place to another, simply. Just like at taxi.

Talking about ugly, does anyone remember Danish Air Transport?

I cant find a pic of it at airliners.net, but it looked like a lego plane.

    RE: Airline food

I just tried the All day delis back and forth between MAN and OSL this weekend, and they were not very good!

I have to admit im a bit picky though, i can’t remember if i’ve ever enjoyed an airline meal, but sometimes i just get the feeling that this airline food is prepared days in advance.

RE: Im going flying this evening

Yes it does actually feel quite fast. It is bechause it’s really tiny though, bechause of the narrow body. I am pretty tall, about 187 cms, and i cant even stand up properly inside the aircraft. When you sit down it’s pretty comfortable though, and i always make sure i get the A row, so i dont have anyone next to me (It’s three seat rows).

I will definately have a good weekend, i am going home to the football cup final, my local team made it there. πŸ™‚

RE: Airbus, Vietnam Airlines sign contract on sale of A321s; valued at 300 million euro

Well, either way i think it’s brilliant that a european corporation gets one over at the americans. Personally im not a big fan of them these days, and i think that in the time to come there will be a bigger difference between Europe and the US, especially in trade, and thats when we need some good competitive products.

Just for the record, even if Norway is just a hole in the north sea on the Euro coin, we’re still Europeans πŸ™‚
