IBy all means keep on been critical to the efforts of the Frenchies – but how would you like to be them reading such a forum… rather unpleasant and may be damage any chance of ever seeing this fly in english skies.
Hmmm, I can just see it now:
“Oh no, I’ve dropped my croissant in ‘orror, zeese people say our machine eesn’t a Mosqueeto! Sacre bleu!” Hardly, Phil!
The ‘Frenchies’ probably have thicker skins than you may imagine. If I’d been the one to build such a replica, the joy of flying it would outweigh the criticisms. I don’t think I’d run off, sobbing for mummy, because some people said it wasn’t a real Mosquito.
Not everyone has a victim mentality, nor does everyone feel that disagreement or even criticism is a personal affront or harassment.
Good on those who build these machines.
Cheers,
Matt
Please note – my ‘scenario’ was deliberately superficial and satirical, to emphasise my reading of the superficial post to which I’m replying.
Hey Daniel,
You gonna be part of it? 😉

How complete was it when recovered?

Wow, those military DH. 89s have lasted well!
*gets coat, leaves*
The Vultee Vengeance, if my memory serves me correct.
Anyhow, things are a little tense in parts of Australia at the moment. Floods in Queensland and bushfires in Western Australia.
Dunno about Aerotec.

Mate, don’t make the mistake I did and ask one why they do ‘dress ups’; I did and had to deal with a bloke having a real hissy fit.
I collect British and Commonwealth service firearms and have a near-complete representative collection of all main arms from 1810 to the late 1950s. I also have a decent collection of militaria and uniforms, but I have no desire to actually wear any of this stuff. I figure that as I’m 39 years old, I’m a little too old to play the part of a 19 year old infantryman. To each their own though.
I’ve uploaded a few You Tube videos of my firearms, and the comments section of some of them are interesting to read in relation to reenactors;

Good for a chuckle.

In Australia,
The Returned & Services League is the principal ex-service association;
The main news service is ABC. Being the national broadcaster, they’re not commercial and are more open to veteran stories;
I’ve given their websites so you can choose which branch to contact, as they are fairly complicated and I’m not sure which type of news or info you’d like to go through.

Matt
The aeroplane by the hangar door is too stumpy to be a JU88 and the nose and canopy lines look like classic early Anson to me. Its undercarriage is too far forward to be JU88, and it squats like an Anson.

I remember the day well, getting home from school (Year 7) on a rainy day to see it on the news. And that was here in Australia.
A sad day for aviation preservation.
For mine, Flypast changed after Mike’s tragic death. No ill-respect to Ken Ellis and the crew, for me it was just…well, different.

Matt
Thanks gents, a mystery solved! Now to find another copy…

Is this the movie with the theme lyrics (at the end) going something ike;
“They let me drive again, I feel alive again, they let me drive again”?
Also, I seem to recall a line about the fact that if the Japanese had won the war, they wouldn’t be having a problem with instruments failing.
As a teenager about 20 years ago, I had a movie on VHS, taped from telly which may have been this movie. I’d love to clear up the mystery as I’ve sometimes wondered whether I could find this movie again.
Thanks, cheers,
Matt
Looked fantastic flying close formation with the Mk VIII. A four-ship formation with The Pay Kittyhawk and Mustang were something to see also.
The Boomerang, Kittyhawk and Hudson display was a grabber too.
Fantastic show at Temora. Great relaxed feel, friendly people who make extra efforts to be welcoming, top food and plenty of toilets!!!
Cheers,
Matt
