In my first job, I used to work with a great chap who was a nav on 305sqn Mosquitoes.
Each Wednesday we had to take a load of documents to be destroyed, and we always managed to lose a couple of hours in the pub en route! He told me about low level sweeps and mossies coming back with chimney pots stuck in the wing etc..
I felt very privileged to get a weekly one to one. I wonder if he’s still about.
ahhh bless ’em
Thank you sir
Thnaks for the info – any current status reports?
Wasn’t XH558 purchased for the nation? I have no problem with contributing to the upkeep of ‘my’ heritage. The project will continue to need our support in the years to come. If you want to see it fly, you might as well get used to parting with a few quid now and then for the priviledge. Imagine how proud you will be when it drowns out the sound of whingers and nay sayers, setting off all the car alarms in the process, how good will you feel when you say to yourself “I helped do that”
My donation will be going in tonight. Feel free to do the same.
Whingers – keep on carping if that’s your thing, not much of a life is it?.. we won’t be able to hear you much longer, just don’t drop your thermos 😀
Aside from the political/historical/peace aspects, don’t forget the “green” aspect.
It would take a lot of corporate carbon schmarbon blah blah blah [/I]
Oh god, we’ve finally been infiltrated… it was bad enough when bloody steam trains started appearing on here, can we please leave the carbon nonsense at the door – this was the last refuge we had from the global warming guilt industry. Bombers, fighters, huge gas guzzling jets etc. yes please, ecomentalism – no thanks 😉

what’s known about this wreck?
Seems to be more than enough material there to warrant a re-build
over (to Mark12) I guess… 😉
Looks like the project is coming along well. One day I’ll make it to Vancouver and visit the museum.
Keep up the good work – can’t wait to see her fly!
Best wishes from Biggin Hill

As a British Taxpayer and thereby part owner of such treasures, FANTASTIC – thanks for sharing 🙂
Nazi robots – it’s all true, nobody believes me!
Bet they dare not show the Robot Stukas with lasers flown by pirates
Great shots on your site Phixer – I will have to go back and read the stories!
Phantoms look so good in RN colours – I bet it was fun living in a nest of them!
PM me and I’ll send you the Lightning mp3
That’s good news – I’m moving to Biggin on Friday.
An airworthy Mk IX one mile from my house…
guess I’ll be legging it outside every time I hear an interesting engine note
Thank you Peter Monk!
