my god you must be tall….
it’s painted better than PT462
I thought I would resurrect this thread in the hope that someone can come up with a good recommendation for a pub with aviation connections somewhere in the Tempsford / Grafton Underwood / Kimbolton / Podington / Polebrook circuit. Doing that tour on Friday, so any advise gratefully received.
Gene Carson was a tail gunner at Podington in ww2 and use to drink in a pub in nearby Rushden. His book ‘Wingding’ (see amazon) is a good read. I can dig out the book and find the pub if you want.
I was in contact with him in recent years in the course of my Podington research – he’s a nice bloke.
I’ve been on the Grace spitfire waiting list for 5 years and heard nothing…
I feel a trip to the states coming on….
P-51 – CADILLAC OF THE SKY! 😀
exactly! or in this case – cadillac of just above the ground..:D
Thanks – much appreciated!
Very nice idea. Right there with ya, Zwitter. Might get an R/C one for Christmas but I dont think it would qualify for Warbird Depot somehow.
damn – too late!

($2,000,000 short too…)
Biggin Hill please – right over my house!
I shall stand naked in the garden saluting!
great site – added to favourites 😀
– wish I had a bearcat…
the subject has been done to death anyway – no great loss!
I’m guessing its something like this you are after:
Not Biggin Hill but Southend what this dose not show are the dumped loads of friendly bombers out the the Estuary, this map was only on show for a short amount of time along with a book listing all the sites one just a few doors up from my house was a High Explosive bomb of arround 500lbs!
Exactly – something like that. I hoped there would be something like that in ‘Biggin on the Bump’ but I can’t find my copy… I’ll get on to the local archives. Thanks.
wil do – thanks chaps
Funny how you can’t use certain words without getting into or worrying about potential trouble, but you can show bombing – no problem!
I hope they do a good job on this film, but remember, whatever happens, it’s only cinema. Not a history lesson.
let’s not get too hung up about it when they re-name Scampton to somewhere the spams have heard of!
You guys can discuss the pros and cons all day if you like… I’m just going to sit here with my coffee and think about how amazingly wonderful it will be to see a Vulcan in the skies again. I never dreamed I would ever see another one, and now there’s a very good chance that I will – I feel like a kid at christmas !
Roy.
Seconded!
