on a slightly smaller scale, my project is a Blackburn Palouste jet engine (that would start that Bucc quite nicely) that I’m supposed to be gettting running, but never seem to get round to!
The best looking model is the MkIX – and that’s official!
Anything before looks rather weedy – anything after looks like it’s wearing add-ons .
they’re all lovely and I’d have any of them in a second – but the IX has the best of everything… Fact!
Anyone who disagrees is perfectly entitled to any delusion they like 😉
I’m suprised Biggin Hill didn’t get a mention. Maybe it’s use as an airport already protects it to a certian extent.
don’t worry – it’s been included:
(From the list)
BIGGIN HILL
London Borough of Bromley
Britain’s most celebrated fighter station. It retains a particularly fine officers’ mess of 1934 and a good group of technical and domestic buildings (mostly 1930-34). The latter include the best-preserved married quarters group associated with a nationally-important site. The flying field, with later runways, retains defence posts and fighter pens from 1939.
The best I ever saw.
Thanks for the memories Ray
wow – politician in corruption shocker!
it’s no surprise really is it – politics has never been wher you find those with the greatest integrity
You can choose to remember him as an ace or a politician, I know which I will
Blah blah blah – whinge whinge whinge etc…
I look forward to the nay-sayers being drowned out by four olympus engines 😀
fantastic stuff 🙂
shot 2 is a classic
spot on!
Having looked at Turkish F16 losses here: http://www.f-16.net/f-16_mishaps_airforce-TUAF.html – it is most likely to be 93-0002 judging by the nature of the damage. The only makings I could find was the number 9054, but this was stencilled on a pylon and doesn’t appear to be likned directly to the aircraft serial.
cheers chaps.
nope!
sorry Snaps it’s not a Mig 29
thank you for playing 😀
they had this too
any one care to guess what it is? it’s not too hard 😉
thanks Rocketeer!
already been to that site, -0279 is on there so we’re close!
I’m wondering what it did pre-Turkish Air Force
regarding cockpitfest – that’s exactly what I had in mind!! 😉
but it seems wrong to chop her in half, I come from a classic car background where we try to keep as much original metal as possible, it kind of goes against the grain, but shipping and moving might be impossible with the whole fuselage, plus my spare garage might just take a cockpit but not much else, there’s a palouste engine in there already!
😀
she’s a beauty isn’t she!
Any archivist types out there able to find any service history?
The serial is 67-0272 – it went to turkey in 1987, that’s all I know at the mo.
cheers
A bit off topic, but what is so special about MH434 really? Why is it so notorious?
if you have to ask you’ll never understand
it’s an inappropriate colour scheme and I will now be physically sick WAAAAHHH WAAAAAAAHGHHH!!!! craaashhh!! (drops Thermos in disgust) 😉
Honestly – it’s so much better since the whingers forum and photo fourm became separate! 🙂
Looks cool in that paintless finish – very South American cargo..
