Did Chipmunk AEF flying out of Manston when I was a cadet, 15 years ago, maybe more… – great memories.
Flying with those roundels on the wings, from a place with so much history made me proud, then when you see another cadet up in another chippy, you called ‘traffic sir – 3 o’clock level” (or whatever) and often the PF would turn at him and make ‘dakka dakka dakka’ noises!
Along with ‘aeros’ which were great fun, I did a pretend strafing run at Margate beach – cue more ‘dakka’s!
Walking with a ‘chute on – trying to look like Kenneth More…
We were kids really – playing Spitfires!
i’d love to do it again 😀
Jump Johnny jump! 😉
lucky man!
My mum’s going to do it next year
She’s so cool:D
East-Bournemouth? 😀
Am I the only one who thinks that the mods are going over the top a bit in locking threads?
The latest one is the Typhoon at RIAT thread – By all means keep an eye on things but why stop some interesting discussion on an incdent that has already happened?
Is this is supposed to be an OPEN forum – Or the play thing of a chosen few…
Nige
PS. ‘Bet this gets locked…
The Typhoon issue is still being discussed (by professionals) on pprune, speculation on there is, at least, from more ‘informed’ sources.
can’t believe you used the 75-300, mine isn’t half as sharp as yours!
what settings did you use?
ta zwit 🙂
Cracking stuff!!!
best legends shot’s I’ve seen.
Well done 😀
I can’t go to legends this year, but after going to the VE day show, I’m not so bothered – the thing that’s ruined Duxford shows for me is that evrything displays so far from the crowdline. It’s like watching an air display from the next field.
Maybe that’s the solution… hmmm
Cool pics – thanks 😀
nice shots Charlie Bravo 🙂
I’ve got that lens too – it’s not super – but it does a good job for the money!
A couple of mine from a lousy-skied Sunday (if you don’t mind me adding some – it’ll keep the ‘too many pic threads’ types quiet) 😉

I remember them burning a Shackleton on the dump at Manston when I was a kid…
Back then you could just wander through, walk under vulcans etc… happy days – unless you were a surplus aircraft
Great shots!
vielen dank! 🙂
I will be responding in full to all of you in due course………..there is much much more going on here………you only see the shiny surface…as for buying a lottery ticket, well i consider that having spent a very large amount my own money to restore an aircraft to flying status i do have a right to comment on what is going on in that hanger (or not)
Your money bought the right to enter the draw – after that what happens to it is nothing to do with you. It isn’t ‘public money’. – IMHO of course 🙂
Hope this is of interest.
does the pope sh*t in the woods?!
great news
Booooooooooooommmm!
– the car alarms are quaking already!
Can’t wait
🙂
Ulrich Steinhilpers three books – Spitfire on my tail, Ten minutes to Buffalo and Full circle would make a great film.
You’ve got his exploits as a 109 pilot, being shot down in 1940 – being sent to Canada and escaping from a POW camp FIVE times!
A film or two based on these please!
Cheers Robbo – I just might do that! 😀
