stuka,me109 and i think a fw190,gotta clear out my moms loft so i will see if i still got them.
Ok,I got one for you..
Near Garreg Goch mountain,Brecon Beacons,there is a unknown identity spitfire in a bog,which is a war grave.Confirmed by locals
Up until a few years ago the tip of the tailfin could be seen,it is now totally submerged.
The exact location is fenced off.
Unfortunatly google earth dont go down to ground level,but you can see the wreckage of vampire vz106,the tail booms have been arranged to represent the airframe.
Also scan south west of Garreg Goch and you should find a Cessna/Piper high wing aircraft.
OS map co-ords spitfire-825-179.
vampire-828-202
unknown-802-162
You could try contacting Bovington tank museam as they have resident mechanics on site.
They are surely the ones to ask?.
There is also one thing over looked and thats valve clearances,too tight and the valve will be held open and could cause similar symptoms.
Are they pushrod op or shim/bucket?.
Also check the operation of the floats in the carbs and possibley a compression test.
I think you will find that the firm Kynoch was a Birmingham firm. As I remember it was situated in Aston, which as you know is an area of Birmingham.
But they were a very important part of the midlands war effort.As is rightly pointed out it amalgamated with Eley when I seem to remember them still producing shotgun cartridges. Though they probably still produced shells for the M.O.D post WWII.
Regards
Yes my favorite cartridge was the Eley grand prix,no 6 shot,a good all-rounder.:diablo:
Check this website out—http://www.dave-cushman.net/shot/303hist.html.
all the infos there:cool:
ROF Blackpole still standing in part and now Blackpole industrial estate.
Managed by Kings Norton metal Co,during the war.
VII = Mark VII
K = Kynoch
39 = 1939
^ possibly R^L =Royal Laboratories = Woolwich Arsenal
Mark VII only authorised for use on the Vickers machine gun due to higher charge content.
Amendment–OOPS,Mark 8 for vickers.
The VIIC picture,”C” denotes cordite
Any pics?…
Thanks,that would be great,
The Freeman book let me down,there obviously no serial number to go on.
The remains were allegedly salvaged by a detatchment from the EFTS at Hockley Heath?.
There are some referances to aircraft abandoned,out of fuel and listed as lost in the North sea.
Thanks again.
Ade
I would imagine there is no Harrier,Tornado etc present due to operational requirements..
There is a war on..dont you know..:D
yes schweinfurt,forgive me now:D
RAF Monkmoor,Shrewsbury,as was,home of 34MU during WW2 are being used as an industrial estate(how original-lol),have got a triple and a double,One has been refaced with glass and all seem in good order.Many smaller buildings also survive.
Something along tose lines came to my mind also, though I was thinking of the same setup on the M3 halftrack
The M16 half track used a modified version of B-17/B-24 ball turret powered by a small petrol engine,according to the instruction sheet on my tamiya kit.;)
Great piece of kit,just dying for restoration and maybe some de-ac Brownings
