Went to beach on my hols.Nothing seen but matched up the background on one photo on tighar,s website,if this is indeed the area, then i was very close indeed.Im pretty sure there is a marker on the dunes?.So near but yet,so far springs to mind:)
The neighbours ie-Shell island camp site did a poll, and pleasantly a majority voted FOR a reopened Llanbedr, some were looking forward to the planned air day on i think the 22nd August 2008,but paperwork, bureaucracy etc etc got in the way.Such ventures should be encouraged, where ever they should be based.Should relevant permissions be granted for Kemble to operate, the planned air day should be going ahead next year. There are enough merlins ON the hills and not enough in the sky. From my child hood i remember the gnats, meteors and sea vixens coming into land with the jindeviks, great days, and a great view from the main road too..
You sarky lot,:D. I got several pieces of Wellington X,MF509,got when i was a kid.firing squad at dawn tomorrow:eek:.Question, who do you apply to to get a dig licence and how?
I hear you,all i need now is a big Lottery win,and a surplus airfield for sale,i would love a Duxford for the midlands.Pershore would be great:).Lets hope it turns out alright
It seems that i have stirred it up a tad.Fact remains we have a chance to save an airframe, regardless if the RAF used them or not,if i had the money,i would do the job myself.I could possibly field the machinery, possibly at cost, can operate a 360 excavator/know people that can.The company i work for, hires cranes and plant,a 13 ton machine would have it out in a jiffy. It would not be cheap, but its better than having a pikey remove it piecemeal for scrap.US government dont want it,it should live at Duxford in the building, built to house US aircraft. All the decent stuff usally ends up in the US anyway because of the £100 we dont donate to our local, flagging air museam:D…..
I read all available material on this subject(most of it identical to the previous postings), over this weekend past.I understand that it is up to the MOD to effect a recovery, but i suppose they have got better things to do overseas at the moment:confused:.But on the bright side, its safe where it is,and the UK has got another rare aircraft, one up to us i say:).many thanks
