Can’t remember which year it was but late in the K2’s life the pod had a radar warning receiver aerial added, which gave the pod a rather unfortunate outline at the front and the vent at the back was moved to immediately below the pod on the trailing edge of the fin.

The national markings would have been red, white and blue.

The big intake at the base of the fin needs removing, the leading edge of the fin was straight down to where it joined the fuselage and the engine intakes were a different shape and smaller.

Does anyone have details of the colour scheme of the Flea used by RAE to test the design?

I want to build a model of it but all I have is the registration.

Picasa Web is the same but as it’s run by Google that isn’t surprising.

This does bother me, my job sometimes involves dealing with identity theft and I see this tracking as aiding those who commit it.

As Picasa Web uses facial recognition to track people my little game has been to post photos of friends on picasa web with plausible but obviously ficticious names.

I hope the informaiton cmmissioner comes down against Google but even if she does they won’t stop, just be more covert about it.

If you look at the decline in the size of the modern RAF -I think its unlikely that the Lancaster would be funded by the RAF in 2031.

While we’re on the subject of old instruments, does anyone have any ideas on removing the bezel on a MkIV ASI? I need to get to the spindle the pointer is mouted on but the bezel won’t turn.

Not sure about the lack of interest from the public.

I recall a statement a couple of years ago to the effect that in terms of spectator numbers air shows were second only to football.

This would be supported by the vast array of double glazing, car and insurance sales stands at airshows. Oh, and of course the funfairs.

Very sad news indeed, made all the worse by the fact that the Air Fair was cancelled in his final years .

I too was introduced to aviation by the Biggin Hill Air Fairs.
I very much hope the show comes back one day as a tribute…….a proper show, not a laughable ‘fun day’ .

I don’t think there will be any more air shows at Biggin Hill. The airfield has been becoming very unfriendly for several years now, fences and barriers where you could safely wander freely for many years. The management don’t like the great unwashed tramping all over their airfield and shows get in the way of revenue earning exec jets. There will be open days on the east camp but I wouldn’t guarantee their being allowed to continue for too long.

I miss the Air Fair. It was a social event as well as an air show, we knew we would meet a few people we knew. I went to the first one in 1963 and all the others until the last. Never flew at one apart from joy rides, in the Hermes and a BEA Whirlwind, but I worked on both sides of the crowd line and spectated. Also met my wife there.

P.S. Can anybody recommend a decent curry house in Brighton?

    TIA. Anon.

If you like South Indian try Eastern Eye in London Road:

    http://www.easterneyerestaurant.co.uk/

For less specialised try Memories of India in the Marina:

    http://www.memoriesofindiabrighton.co.uk/

If you don’t mind a bit of a journey try Blue Waves in Croydon, South Indian again.

    http://bluewavesrestaurant.co.uk/

Rumour also has it that, by popular demand, the curry club will be in operation again at cockpitfest. South Indian cooking again. Absolutely nothing against Hog Roast, they do it well and it’s very nice, but it’s a bit too greasy for some. If there’s a run on Bounty Bars in the shop we’ve forgotten the coconut again.
