His grandfather Ronald was a merchant navy seaman who was awarded a workers’ VC for diving into icy water to try to save a sailor near the coast of Newfoundland in 1954.

Must be very proud of him if he is still with us!

I saw this coming a mile off when they built the link road between the A38 and the Mall/M5 Lots of roundabouts with an exit towards the boundry of the Airfield that stopped at the wire. Bristol “International” Airport at Lulsgate bottom is prone to bad weather that Filton does not get but the development there is to far gone to close it. I must in fairness saw that I did oppose a move to Filton 20ish years ago as I did not want passenger aircraft over my head all day long. I did however enjoy seeing Concorde, F111 Ardvarks and the VC10s comings and goings. Still people have to deal with Bristol City Council who are legendery in being unable to make any sort of decision so all is not over yet!

paul178, did you have any luck in the end?

Sofa’s came today and Argos are sending a £50 gift voucher! I await this and see if they are as good as their word. Apparantly they have a new computer system which does not work correctly(how many times have I heard this over the years, it was Tesco last month who could not find a coffee table I ordered for next day collection for 3 days!) I suppose Santa has lost my address next!:)
Nothing wrong with those who churn out bills for me though!

have a good thread on this. I saw her yesterday on her first flight. If you look at the background in some of the photos the houses are encroaching. Give it a couple of years and where its standing will be someones garden or house.
