I think all the good works he did for charity and his success in life from humble beginings are to be admired greatly. The trouble is these days all this can be undone by the wonders of the internet. If you just google his name and scroll to the bottom of the page and read the Searches related to Jimmy Saville” you will see what I mean. Are the stories true or not I don’t know. I do know however is I dislike the idea and what seems to be increasing of crucifying someone when they are dead and can’t answer their accusers!

Well I do not remember my first two flights as I was five months old but my father took my mother and me for a couple of flights when he was a member of Test Flight 32 MU St Athan The first one was in a Lancaster FM136 St Athan-Valley 1st August 1945 and the second was in a Halifax111 RG384 St Athan-High Ercall on the 3rd August 1945. Perhaps thats when I started bonding with aircraft(I sure as hell never bonded with my Father!):)

The first flight I remember was in the early 50’s in a DH Dove of Morton Air Services(my Father was considering joining them as a pilot but that came to nothing)

I wonder what they shot that up with? It would not be tank or heavy artillery as it just cut to ribbons not blown to bits.

One history of the life of Erwin Rommel recorded that Rommel thought that the best soldiers the Afrika Corps came up against in the Westen Desert of North Africa were the New Zealanders.

Lucky he never came up against the Gurkhas then!:D
