Argh! No! That’s a really rubbish paint scheme, even worse on the A310 than the 737s!
I agree. Am I missing something? Are the pictures not giving the true colors? To me, it looks like a whole lot of orange and a whole lot of billboarding!!
Kind’a in yer face, ain’it?
Hey Interflug, I agree completely about the best PIA colorscheme. I think PIA should have a few jets in that scheme for it’s 50th anniversary…

As for describing the current PIA scheme as a “green belly and three stripes near the neck of the aircraft” I think that is way too simplistic a description and overlooks the national and cultural aspects which I think is far too often overlooked these days.
The current PIA scheme was primarily designed with the A310 in mind and actually looks superb on it. However, it falls flat on a 747 and makes the aircraft look under-nourished 🙂
Similar situation with the Air-India colors. In the 70’s this color scheme was introduced with the induction of the 747s. The scheme truly makes the 747 look like a palace. However, the decal placement problems that someone had to go through when applying the paintscheme to A310’s and (uglier yet) to a Locheed Tristar become painfully obvious. On both 310 and tristars (when they were used), the trailing design from the tail onto the fuselage is rudely cut short -making the colorscheme look like it got it’s tail stuck in a trap and snapped. 😮
Wow! I like.
A nice combination of Delta colors plus shading reminiscent of BA 🙂

Oh Blie-me, actually we have some lovely “rubbery” chaupattees for you that our air-hostesses will be rudely throwing on your trays. Chewing on them should keep you occupied for the duration only…” :p
What lovely scheme? Green belly with three stripes near the neck of the aircraft. Boring!!

“Ladies and gentlemen, if you all care to look out the right side…
You’ll tilt the plane…”:p
That 737 needs a facelift now 🙂

Here is what I am referring to:
Oh, I’m not questioning the spread of the design to accomodate the tail span on the concorde. What strikes me is the absence of the shading to make the waving flag look realistic.
If you look at a BA tail close enough, you will notice that the wavy flag has rows of mini to medium size dots (a row of white and a row of dark) to give the illusion of shading that you might see on an actual fabric. These dots are completely mising from a concorde tail thereby giving the concorde tail a very flat appearance.
Is it really just me who has seen this minute detail?!:(
Good interpretation. I had figured that the swords and the date palm were the national emblem of Saudi Arabia and the crescent moon being a hallmark of Islam, they were just creating a brand image using these icons.
