Leave the Martians out of this, Sameer.
They’ve done you no harm.
Yet another one liner…..
Anyway I am off
cant argue with peple who either give you sarcastic one liners when they have no clue as to what they are talking about or others who claim to have studied economics but do not even seem to grasp the basics of what comparative advantage theory means. Again my point all along, one too many studying art history and not more worthwile courses in their local university, no wonder…..

“You talk about economic fact, well here’s an economic fact for you – the outsourcing of European and US service sector jobs to lower-wage economies arises from the desire of European and US Companies to maximise their profits”
and US and European companies maximizing their profits is not good for Europeans and Americans because of course these countries sell their products to Martians at cheaper prices so that more people can afford a mobile or laptop etc etc etc……
The world economy s demand driven and companies maximize their profits subject to that demand, now if you understand this last sentence, te=hen you would have already agreed with me.
AND THERE IS NO SUPERIORITY FROM ME HERE, QUIT PUTTING WORDS IN MY MOUTH BECAUSE YOU cannot understand simple economics. IN MY OPINION WESTERNERS ON A PER CAPITA BASIS ARE MUCH MUCH MORE COMPETITIVE and face no problems due to free trade. They simply have to reform their system which seems to have some problems, especially in the UK with their great education system. The problem is that a few people studying art history have realized that their degree , surprise surprise, is worthless and now feel bitter.
Free trade has been with us for years now, East Aia used to be in the news in the 70s for the very same reason but today these jobs are not leaving HK, taiwan etc even though their wages have risen BECAUSE THEY ARE COMPETITIVE. The wes is better off today because of free trade with countries such as Taiwan and company. That is all i said.

Sameer, as nobody here has accused Indians of being evil, and you are becoming increasingly incomprehensible, we would appear to have a) you descending into playing the race card as soon as some basic home truths are pointed out to you and b) gone full circle to the original complaint about being unable to understand call centre workers.
Which strikes me as rather a good point to leave you to it. You’ll learn soon enough, believe me!
t is not my fault that you cannot understand what comparative advantage, i fear that you are getting a bit too personal so I will choose not to answer you anymore, afterall you surely look like you pointed me to those anti free trade facts….
Anyway there is a link there in one of my posts answering your basic questions (directed to all readers)

The evil Indians and Chinese is a joke man, you should relax, i am not playing the race card on you, where the ehck did you get that from
And also for someone who does not even properly understand the law of comparative advantage, i find it ironic how you are lecturing me, but you are right, we will see so let us leave it at that, people can believe economic evidence or they can be like Damnian and believe that all jobs will leave the Uk….

For the ones who are more interested in the wonder that is free trade, a few basic questions and answers. 🙂

Again just relax if you study well in school in a high end field, you have notthing to fear, even if you do not, it isnot the end of the world, you have to be competitive that is all and not all jobs can go, only idiots will tell you that, a country cannot have a comparative advantage in everything as i explained before…… 🙂

It is sad to see that I as an Indian have more faith in Americans and Europeans keeping their high level jobs and in fact having some more and being much more competitive than Imy country can presently than Europeans can themselves. Seems to be a complex and a fear to compete to me. I wonder if the same lads who do not even properly understand the law of comparative advantage or the Stopler Samuelson theorem in general have tried o find out how many jobs have been created because of free trade. Less bias will work wonders sometimes.

Hmmm…. for some unknown reason the word “smug” is flitting across my mind just at this moment in time…..
Let us try a different approach shall we?
If you having nothing but sarcastic one liners, can you
1) stop posting for nothing
2) or you actually come up with meaningful data and economic evidence etc to back up your one liners.
thank you
p.s i hop you choose option 2, this is a discussion forum after all.
This discussion can go on forever but it is clear that everyone who faces competition has two choices to make
1) Compete
2) NOt compete and let the rest of the world eat you alive.
In stead of blaming the evil Indians and chinese, try to get to your Government who are supposed to help you lads retrain into higher paying filds that have grown so much in the US for example. see Finance jobs, see biotech industry etc….

Sameer, you do make me smile.
When India gets the same social problems we in Europe are experiencing precisely because of the ever-widening gap between the well paid and the remainder of the population, you will look back on these posts and cringe.
As a starter, some of the highest wages in the UK used to be in IT. That particular industry has been devastated wages-wise by outsourcing and similar factors – what makes you think that India will keep wages that “are too high for lower level jobs”? Surely those high wages will make it attractive for Indian businesses to outsource those jobs to, say, China, thereby bringing the wages down again?
I was lucky enough, and interested enough, to do some economics at university to go along with the more immediately useful software engineering, and can spot an unsustainable trend that is going to cause massive social upheaval sooner or later. A pretty smart bloke once said that “If a foreign country can supply us with a commodity cheaper than we ourselves can make it, better buy it of them with some part of the produce of our own industry, employed in a way in which we have some advantage”. The problem is, if you outsource everything, what industry do you have left with which to pay for the imported goods or services? And if everybody goes to the lowest bidder, what about quality? And what do you think those left unemployed will do about the situation? Self-interest drives so much of economics, and the self-interest of somebody pushed out of a job is to fight against the situation that pushed him out. It is not likely to be a pretty fight.
Finally I wonder in what school you learnt economics, i just reread your last para, YOU CANNOT OUTSOURCE EVERYTHING, IF INDIA HAS A COMPARATIVE ADVANTAGE IN BASKET OF GOOD X, THEN ENGLAND WILL HAVE A COMPARATIVE ADVANTAGE IN BASKET OF GOOD Y, ITS A MATHEMATICAL AND FACTUAL RELATIONSHIP for Christ’s sakes. Europe still has a pool of high skilled people, America even more, I wonder what you guys are really scared of, you will never loose the 1000000 of jobs you fear you will, stop listening to idiotic politicians and lobbies, Europe and the west in general is still much much much more competitive that the rest of the world, you people are scared of nothing, just reform your inefficient system.
