You can bet your bottom dollar that a lot of people will suddenly become very rich in the sub continent as well, I am sure that all contenders will do their share of entertaining their clients to oh i dont know a new Swiss Bank account for example, a few S classes etc. πŸ™‚

    What interesting times indeed.

The CCS has aparently agreed to a higher price tag for the Scorpene, the deal is aparently been approved with a higher price, the French argued that the 2002 price had to be renegotiated as the Indians took too long and another country was about to buy them anyway, hence the Govt was forced to order them. This speaks volumes about Indian bureaucracy, those idiots have done it again, there is only one place where Babus belong, and that is in jail.

I hope that the f-16 has not become better because the PAF is suddenly getting 24 of them. πŸ™‚

I have no clue as to how someone could even say that the F-16 is the most agilefighter out there, hilarious.

Speaking fo Fulcrums though, we found out in the Ethiopia vs Eritrea war that the Flanker is one step ahead in all fields.

The real test will be the missile that will be given, will it be a late version Aim-7 or the Amram itself which I doubt simply because of the China factor.

it wont make sense to go for a small Rafale purchase, costs will be too high and it makes no sense to maintain a small fleet of yet another fighter type, it will be the M2K-5 and the purchase will happen sooner which is a good thing, nothing speeds up Indian politicians like akistani purchases.

    Cough cough

Russia exporting to Pakistan? simply because India would go for another fighter for the 126 multirole ac requirement, dont make me laugh man, russia knows that there are other deals in the pipeline for it, russia will have an Indian customer for a long time to come, obvious if you look at all the current long term agreements, I dont mean to ffend your country but Pakistan does not really offer a large export market for millitary equipment, F-16s have been bought, we dont even know how much that will cost and how much of that will be subsidized by Uncle, there is the FC-1, Pakistan is not a rich country. Let us not get ahead of ourselves here. Remember that F-16s are the first fighters to have been bought for a long time, 4th gen fighters that is.

How about giving the green light for the Arrow missile and Pakistan could buy 100 F-16s if it wants. πŸ™‚

Why should China build a civil aircraft? People should also think about economic sense, it simply does not make economic sense to design and build large civil airliners when there are alternatives a la Boeing and Airbus, ie its an economic decision based on comparative advantages rather than skill, the country with one of the largest pool of engineers and a hige economy can certainly design such platforms given the time.

β€˜β€˜There are other reasons for not taking up the Hawkeye offer. In a full take-off, a single engine failure could be disastrous,” Vice Adm Bedi said.

Well by this logic, the NLCA too will have problems then wont it!

The Gorshkov and company will be fully operational early next decade, I certainly hope that the DRDO can design not only a AEW platform, but one that can actually take off from an angled deck, what kind of two engined AEW platforms are going to be used?

Why does Brazil need a nuclear sub, to destroy the powerful SA navies?

Brazil is at peace with everyone, they have fun, dance the samba and drink, enjoy the life and produce the most beautiful women on earth, they do not need a nuke sub.

Whether or not Iran is justified in possessing a nuclear weapon is behind the point. At this stage, each country which fields nuclear weapons should dismatle such arsenals to prevent the type of situation presently ongoing in the Iran. Remember what happened when India announced to the world they had manufactured a nuclear weapon. Pakistan had immediately retaliated by making similar claims and Asia was plunged into an uncertainty as to its future as relations between these two countries were, at the time, rather cold.
Should the international community allow such nations as Israel and Iran field such devastating tools of war, I personally don’t think so. But if that’s the case, then government such France, Great Britain, Russia and the United States should lead the way in getting rid of these monstruosities. Otherwise, Chirac, Blair and Bush are simple hypocrits!

India had first tested nukes way back in the early 70s and had nukes in its arsenal in the 80s, probably only air deliverable. Pakistan too probably received tech transfer in the 80s from the Chinese and probably had an arsenal as well.

As far as a limited air war over Iran, we may think that the Irani AF is in bad shape especially compared to the IAF but at such a distance form home base and with ample warning time, Iran could possibly put enough of a defense to thwart any attack, if they even have one division guarding each installation, how are a few commandoes going to do the rough work? The plan sounds like a crazy made up story to me, the best strategy would be a limited Israeli missile strike from the air and sea especially.

According to Uzi Mahnaimi in Sunday Times today, Israel has made a plan on how to attack Iranian nuclear facilities if west fails to halt the iranian nuclear programme by diplomatic means.

Ariel Sharon gave a green light to the planning of this operation in januar this year and the plan would (if necessary) be conducted by combat jets (F-15) and commandos (from Shaldag). Excercises have already taken place were a model of Natanz-plant has been used. The plan has also been introduced to the US, which are said to stay passive if Israel intends to go to action (if diplomacy fails and the iranian continues their programme that is).

My personal view of this, and now I suppose we’re getting into politics, is that I’m glad that Israel are capable of taking a decision that United Nations should have taken. Iran has been threatening the whole existence of an israelian state ever since their birth. Now since United Nations should be working for the right to every nation to exist – they should have been the ones to deal with this matter. Looking at what kind of countries there are in UN – I’m not surprised though…

    regards,
    Castor

No offense but I see no reason why Iran should not have nukes if other countres in the region have the right to have them but to get away from politics, wont a huge F-15 force supported by AWACS have to pass through Jordan or close enough to Saudi Arabia, in any event, Iran could be warned beforehand that a big strike package is comming, those Israeli commandoes will have quite a few problems as well, also the IAF will have to maintain air superiority for a long enough time while the commandoes do their work, i am very pesimistic about a success

The FC-1 is more manouverable than the BISON, in fact the Chinese later version F-7s are supposed to be more manouverable as well, however the FC-1’s avionics remains a mystery, from the Grifro 2000 derivative or S7 or whatever they were going to get to well ?

I guess that the FC-1 will forcebly carry the sd-10 and this will be the first BVR missile of the PAF and for the PLAAF it will represent the trickling down of BVR weapons to the medium to low tec acs.

It also suggests that the Gorshkov will be able to carry a maximum of 20 MiGs if it has 13 helis, hence we could indeed see 24 MiGs if that number is decreased by say only 4 helis.
