22.2M USD per plane is what we had been expecting, that price should come down due to economies of scale and also once the Kaveri comes online.

Unfortunately that is exactly what happens when you fly as much as the IAF does, crashes will occur, must be why the IAF has been faring so well vs other airforces lately.

Also WB reports are usually lagging, they gather alot alot of data by themselves and from research already done by private firms, so by the time thier things come out, ppl usually know it for months before.

Yea we know you’re more credible since you got ppl inside FBI, CIA, Congress or whatever you call “Congressional Circles” lol! So Star49 dont argue with him, else he’ll have to ask his sources to declassify CIA documents to prove you wrong..see he got sources, you’re doomed..oOoO

Your knowledge of how the World Bank works is hilarious to say the least, as one who did an internship there for six months, I can voutch that what you say is hilarious BS, the WB is knows as the most credible source for any economic data, they work closely with all countries’ statistical agencies and get the mot uptodate data available.

I have a very dumb question, since the Rn has small carriers, does it have any AEW planes flying off the carrier, my hunch would be a big no?

From the shape in particular….these dont appear to have much of tactical capability…as compard to prithvi in particular…..there are certainly more ‘fins’ in prithvi. Agni’s first stage and the warhead has ‘fins’…which give it some critical manuvering towards the terminal and initial phases.

Wonder how effective will they be in dodging interceptor missiles..like arrow-2, akash. Even the test that those guys did in isreal for arrow-2 to id the warhead and head towards it…..I think it will be easy targets for ABMs.

Is there really a need to bring Indian missiles into the discussion?

Just listened to the 05 Indian Budget speech, the Defence Budget now stands at 19B USD and 7.9B USD of that will be reserved for capital expenditure.

Look for the Scorpene deal to be a done deal by the end of this year.

Its okay to say that the Griffen is better than the Tejas but at least one would expect a half decent reason, but pdf members dont go that far anyway. 🙂

Since Arshad has flown both the Griffen and the LCA, he can tell us how one layout is more, efficient than the other, perhaps poor Jonesy told him that as well? 🙂

As far as I am aware of, there is a Pakistani website run by Usman or close enough where it is obvious that based on akistani sources that too, the attrition for the 71 war was equal, of course the IAF would loose more planes, it attacked for Christ’s sakes, get it through your head, any person with half a brain would look at attrition rather than rough plane shootdowns. 🙂

There is no such thing as a rating, the PAF is considered to be a professional force, as far as ratings, I am not aware of any recent exercises vs other nations so that I can tell you how well the PAF fared, I believe that there was a recent air exercise in Turkey. In my opinion the PAF suffers from certain weaknesses, its BVRless planes and the serious lack of bvr training and unknown ACM1 and DACT training figures. Nontheless based on past wars, the PAF should be expected to hold more than its own vs any oponent bar large scale bvr fights.

18 MiGs and 2 Hawkeyes, 4 helis should be the max that Gorshkov would be able to carry. I wonder what kind of new engine the Hawkeye would need to take off from the skyjump.

    Side question

Can the MiG-29K take off with full weapons load from the Gorshkov?

BTW Your signature reminds of one more thing that I confirmed – the MMR’s antenna diameter is 650 mm, compared to the Zhuk-ME’s 624 mm.

    😀

I certainly hope that the mighty Arthur has read this, he will remember the small lca nose discussion as well.

A simple question deserves a simple answer

The LCA will only be operational by 08 and HAL cannot produce more than amount x per year of the plane, especially in the initial years, in the meantime older IAF planes will still need to be retired, hence……., the IAF also wants to increase squadron strength asap, note the term asap, now you should get the picture why “Hindustan” does not only go for the LCA.

I hope that they pain the PV-2 in grey, there is so much grey can do on a fighter plane.
