The heli you show is simply being used to drop a couple of troops, the heli cannot fire anyhting nor does it have any offensive or meaningful defensive systems?
I can buy myself a heli too if I had the money and attach a few ropes, get a decent pilot and then jump off with my chute?
In any event stick withthe fc-1 folks, no reason to go off a tangent here.
Me thinks that not 10 hours later the french made some noise about selling their own engine, realistically though that will push back theinduction schedule, you do not replace an engine just like this, u need to retest many a thing such as FBW etc.
elax, the FC-1 will get an engine it will just be a bit more expensive in the form of a French engine for the PAF.
I wonder why certain Pakistani gents do not go to the NAvy forum and talk about their superirity, yet another Indian unrelated thread hijacked. Please go to the NAVY forum, i wonder why you do not make the same statements there, a place where there are more experts on the matter, funny how you mae big unrelated statements on unrelated threads.
Guys can we keep this Griffen based
Nitin
could u please ignore previously banned memebrs who have managed to get themselves reincarnated in newer avatars?
The Swedes were readily supplying Bofors to India i the 80s and continue to support the Bofors system in India, money has a very funny way sometimes, not that I support buying the Griffen in the first place but weare not talking about a few dozens here, weare talking about a huge purchase.
With a purchase of 126 aircraft, I doubt the Swedes would want to miss the bucks that come with it
Wow 16 Bhramos launchers, it looks like a decent ship. That ship alone could sink half the current fleet.
I think that BR has a section devoted to the LCA already, the sad part is that in 2 months, the same questions will come up over and over and over again.
Is it confirmed that the MMR has been mated to the PV-2 already?
Are there any pics of the PV-2?
Also after 300 flights, would it be wrong to say that the FCS has been validated?
In other news, I just made a bundle on the BSE (new record high) 🙂
You would thikn that simple arithmetic would get across certain members
126+0 does not equal to 300 nor does it equal to a number greater than 300 (remember the squadron increase)
It is also funny the Swedes hear that the IAF is in the market for planes, so they offer their fighter, somehow someone suddenly figures that this means that the LCA has lost its commitment value? 🙂
They won’t buy the Gripen but if we are to assume that they do, the LCA and Gripen will serve the same role and will have similar capabilities in my opinion. They will not turn around and replace it with the LCA, both aircraft will enter service at about the same time…
The Mirage 20005s if bought are supposed to make up the numbers, I have heard everything from mig-21 to mig-23 replacements to simply making up the numbers of the upward revision of squadron strength.
It is irrelevant to talk about technicalities, your questions related to the giving up of the LCA, this is not happening unless one can provide proof to the contrary. Anyway let us get back to the Griffen saaga which is but marketing ploy.
The IAF cannot make up the numbers with only 126 aircrafts, the problem is that the LCA testing was delayed during nuclear tests and technical difficulties etc, hence the IAF will need to have a large number of acs entering service around the 2010 timeframe to replenish the fleet, this is why it is so obvious that the IAF has not given up on the LCA, it is rather a misconception circulating around certain well known forums.
The 40 tejas order will be placed formally after weapons testing, PV2 will fly in Feb, obviousy the chief of a Public Sector Undertaking is credible when he says that a deal to be placed by a segment of Indian civil service, aka the airforce, will be placing an order.
So those seating at Dassualt do not understand this? IAF has simply no choice but to buy Mirages. and if Euro keep rising like this even that will be out of question. there is no 40 LCA order in existance.
Let me clear that one up for u then? 😀
HAL to supply 40 Tejas to Air Force
Tuesday April 20 2004 00:25 IST
BANGALORE: Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd chairman N.R. Mohanty on Monday said the public sector undertaking is expecting a Rs 4,000 crore order from the Indian Air Force (IAF) for producing 40 Tejas_ the indigenous light combat aircraft.
This apart, the IAF has already placed an order for eight limited series production (LSP) of Tejas, which the HAL has taken up the production.
Among the 40 aircraft, for which the HAL is waiting for finalisation of orders, eight will be twin seater trainers. Tentatively the new aircraft would be powered by the American GE-404 engines and delivery may begin by the end of this decade. Kaveri, an indigenous power plant will eventually replace the American engine.
City-based Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA) has designed and developed the Tejas, has completed trials of over 200 flights reaching supersonic speeds and at height of 5.5 km. It has to undergo flight testing of about 3,200 hours for certification. Production Vehicle – 2 (PV-2) is expected to take off in August.
The tailless, delta-winged, fly-by-wire, multi-role combat aircraft is expected to replace the ageing MIG 21 fleet of the IAF.
Even, HAL, without any specific demands from the IAF, is way ahead with blueprints to replace the ageing HPT-32 aircraft with Turbo-prop Basic Trainer Aircraft (TBTA). “IAF has over 200 HPT-32 trainers which needs to be replaced. We want to keep everything ready and once the new government is formed we should get orders,” Mohanty said.
For the nth time, there is no problem of commitment towards the LCA at all, this has been mentioned about a thousand times by the IAF chief himself, orders have also already been placed for the limited series production, there is also a first 40 production run. It has also been mentioned that India is increasing its squadron numbers, some MiG23s have also been retired.
It is obviously simply the case that the LCA will not make the numbers in time, but if the LCA is dumped, the 126 fighters won’tmake up the numbers either, somehow this simple logic is not being considered here. 🙂
