Assuming they get to the dog fight stage, surely an F-16A can beat a MiG-21, it will not be easy vs MiG-29s and M2000s and Su-30s for sure. I think that an F-16 should have an edge in manouverability vs a Mirage 2000.

Chill Sameer, its just amusing how this reporter managed to conclude that Pakistan was buying the Mushak off South Africa….

It is a known fact that reporters in India are not that great when it comes to defence reporting, they just do not know, guess u did not get the obvious sarcasm. 🙂

Depending on what F-16 Pakistan is getting, if it gets the A model, it won’t do much at bvr ranges vs a Bison, and no worries, Uncle will never sell Amrams to a close Chinese friend that is Pakistan. But as a strike platform the F-16 will be very useful escorted by the future thunder.

If we won’t send Pakistan more F-16s, why would they be allowed to get the Gripen from Sweden? Don’t they need our approval for the F404-based engine?

The Swedish Govt has refused to sell Pakistan offensive weapons like the Grifen, they have agreed to sell AEW platforms. The Grifen story was ahoax, they used frontline magazine and this was proven to be a hoax a few days ago. 🙂

I think that the FC-1 Grifo can be used on the F-16, the website claims that it can, I doubt that te US wll offer BVR like the Amram but maybe old sidewinders which Pakistan should propmtly refuse
On the Grifen, the Parliament has refused to sell to Pakistan, also the pakdef story was a hoax as was shown a few days ago.

70 odd f-16s by 2009 is a possibility with grifo and FC-1 bvr weapons

Probably won’t happen since an attack on Iran will result in great anger in the Shia community in Iraq thus costing the US dearly. Besides the IAF will need to fly over Jordan and Iraq, maybe a cruise missile from one of their diesel subs is the best option.

I believe that someone had posted news a few months ago about the US buying a few Pak UAVs for patrolling the wacky Mexico border, anyone know what has happened?

Regardless the Nishan looks nice. Isn’t tere a long and a bit more academic article as to the history of the UAV programme in Pakistan and what the future holds, also who does the building in pakistan, for eg in India its DRDO and HAL etc?

I’d hate to nitpick but just days ago Pakistan angrily denied that there are ANY terrorist camps in its territory, including the Afghan border:

I’ve taken a better look now. These are buildings, no screen around it. Probably just taking stuff aboard or offboard. Maybe they’re making a zoo like Noah and now taking the food onboard. THAT WOULD BE A GOOD IDEA!

They would need some major refitting and modification to make this into a zoo dude, there is a minimum standard that they must uphold in order to be considered to become a zoo. Animal welfare, rights etc.

Come on guys why do u doubt this dude, he says afterall he works in the J-10 factory. As we all know China is a very liberal democratic country and will allow its citizens to post such information without reprisal. :dev2: About the dry thrust, they have been able to develop the super duper WS-10A with pakistani technology….

What is the deal with people and their stupidity?!! 😀

Anyway can you ask these guys how the Eireyes are coming along? Thanks

Come on lad, let us not go down that road, this item is probably bs but I can believe that Pakistan can get J-10s in the future once China starts inducting these fighters in large numbers and further derivatives are developed, China will feel more relaxed about selling to Pakistan wihtout fear that the US will gain significantly if they are secretly allowed to see what that baby is about. Besides much of the avioncis will be western not chinese anyway.
The sad part is that it did not take much to get that pak forum going, too bad its fake.

Let us keep our fingers crossed, I certainly hope that the MiG does not dissapear. One would hope thatthe russian economy would grow at its current healthy pace, the question is the future russian airforce will probably consist of 2 typesof fighters not one for various political reasons, I see noone in russia who will sanction the death of MiG
