Oh please. The PW1120 was built in so small a quantity that Israel could not spare them to China. Whatever was left was used on the Kurnass program updating the F-4. One of the reasons the Lavi project could not go on was because it was uneconomical to manufacture the PW1120 by itself just for the Lavi.

And where does this prove that the MiG-23 prototypes are powered by the much smaller R-11 or R-13 huh? The R-27 engine is already quite larger, the R-11 engine barely make 6000kg of thrust and the R-13 has yet to debut for MiG-21MF. You keep forgeting that later MiG-23s are much more extensively redesigned to fit R-29 and the R-35.

Lol. The MiG-23PD is a fixed wing lift tailed delta jet and its really a very different aircraft from the variable wing MiG-23. It’s almost like a lift jet MiG-21. The swing wing plane aka MiG-23-11 prototype which is the basis for all MiG-23s to come already used the R-27.

The F-111 was the brain product of the “bomber” clique in the USAF. Since the Soviets crushing the Hungarians to the ground, completely destroying the latter’s airforce on the ground, there was a growing perception that the classic concept of air superiority by winning air to air battles is in doubt and the best way to assure air dominance is to destroy the enemy on ground. The USN didn’t want the F-111 because first of all, it was a product of the Air Force, and the USN always must have their unique fighters, like their F-4 Phantom. Kind of a sacred thing to them. Second the F-111 did suck in air to air combat. Yes it was the complete antithesis of Boyd’s EM theories, which by the way, laid the basis for fourth generation fighter design. And thirdly, the USN needed a fleet defense interceptor, not a bomber.

You mean originally Russian designed parts. Not _made_ parts. But even in the J-7A, the Russians left gaps in their information, forcing the Chinese to reengineer the gaps in. In any case, after all these years, the Chinese would have redesigned and substituted every part of the original MiG-21F design to make the J-7 fool proof, like they did with those CJ-6 trainers. The airframe is heavier, more beefier and robust, capable of holding more fuel, bombs and more powerful engines for example. The inlet is completely variable while the Russian design is three way. The tail section is deeper, and with the J-7E, the wings are totally different. Every part, wire, nut and bolt, is redesigned over the years to lengthen the life and improve the reliability and maintenance. By the way, in the J-7’s avionics and cockpit, there is practically nothing left of the original MiG-21F cockpit, that from the cockpit perspective, it’s not even remotely the same plane.

The Russian article is nonsense. You got low credibility for posting low credibility article that by itself is a collage of articles from internet speculators. WP-13 J-10 prototype story is actually an invention of a Chinese internet poster.
Furthermore, you fail to respond to my questions, why do you want to demonstrate a prototype with an engine nearly half as weak as the one projected. Do you know that even the power differential between the Lavi’s PW1120 and the the WP-13 is enormous?
The Lavi issue has nothing to do with the WP-13 issue. Even if Israelis were onboard and you have a Lavi copy, you still would not be putting a WP-13 in that plane. YOu would be better off smuggling in a PW F100 and use that. The tasks of reengineering would not only be enormous but it would justify creating a brand new airframe.
The issue that there is a redesign does not mean a prototype was ever built. Do you know the simple explanation that you can always redesign your plans even without making a prototype? The redesign is from an engine based on the CFM56, which is the original WS-10 to the AL-31FN. That’s a thrust from 24,000lbs projected to 27,500lbs thrust. Compare that to the early WP-13 at 13,000lbs.
You simply have no concept that the WP-13 represents an engine of a totally different weight and thrust class than the ones eligible for the J-10/Lavi/F-16.

The Kfir had a completely restructured rear end compared to the Mirage V. There are quite some differences with where you put the heat shields for the J-79 vs. that of the Atar.
The F-16 and the F-15 was both designed around the PW F-100. The GE F110 is also similarly size and power. Yet the GE powered F-16s had considerable modifications in their inlet and air duct.
The TF-30 and the F-110 which are used on the F-14s are both turbofans.
Yes, they fitted the J-79 on the F-16 but the performance was so bad, no one would take it even when it was offered cheap. Even a country desperate for a new fighter like Taiwan refused it.
None of the examples above show a dramatic difference of 100% of thrust and intake airflow between the “smaller” engine and the “larger” one.

Then state the reason then. Why can’t you? You never gave a single technical argument but only claiming “reasons” exist. So where are your reasons? You can modify the intake but you cannot modify the entire length and shape of the of the duct without a major modification of the airframe. Look how different the duct of the Lavi is to the J-10’s. You don’t seem to have any idea that such ducts are highly optimized and tuned designs.
