ARJ-21 Program Announces First Flight Delay
ACAC announced today the delay of the planned first flight of ARJ21-700, due to the fact that supplier/suppliers of key systems were not able to provide necessary test conditions on time. Currently ACAC is making efforts to ensure on schedule delivery of key systems, including advanced flight system, so as to be able to deliver the ARJ21-700 to airline customers in 2009.

Has anyone made a list of fighters that have engaged (movie) UFOs and monsters?

I can still remember 50’s and 60’s type B movies where F-86s and F-84 Thunderjets engaged flying saucers and other invasions. I think it was the F-86 that first engaged Godzilla.

I would probably say the Starfighter racked up the most extraterrestial engagements of all. appearing in more 60s and 70s B rated movie films than anything. JASDF Starfighters engaging Godzilla, Gamera and other giant monsters destroying Tokyo the most of all. In fact, what is a Japanese giant monster movie without the trademark Starfighter shooting rockets in a futile attempt to stop the monster. In more recent movies, the F-15 and F-4 Phantom has taken the role, but their attempts are as equally futile.

Independence War of course, put the F-18 into the screen, and Transformers have put F-22 Raptors in the losing end of fighting Starscream. A-10s have seriously damaged a Decepticon. Apaches have engaged Martian Tripods in War of the Worlds, and a B-2 have bombed Cloverfield.

The Sci-Fi Channel movie Epoch had an interesting scene of MiG-31s engaging a massive alien like structure.

When is earth going to get sucked by the micro-singularity? I bet the Evil Ori have something to do with this…:mad:

I’m not sure if its any bigger without some direct measurement. Its possible that the same prototype for the 052C is still there and has not been removed yet. The size of the panels in the 052C is already bigger than the SPY-1. What they need to do is find some way to raise the height of the panels rather than the size. Increasing the size of the arrays may help improve the range and signal sensitivity, but without being able to raise height, you’re not going to improve the look down detection range against the radar horizon. The larger the arrays, the heavier they are, and the heavier the superstructure used to support them, which in turn can affect the way the ship handles.

I have a visual impression that the array is bigger than the 052C’s, but I’m not certain if this radar is pre-052C or post-052C. In the former case, its possible that the original prototype may have been bigger, but the actual panels became smaller due to the considerations mentioned in the previous paragraph. If its post 052C, it would be a daunting challenge to see four panels of this size on a new ship.

One can easily observe from the 891, that the panel isn’t just encased, but there is all sorts of refrigeration plumbing under and around the array. Its usually the case of AESAs, or some extremely high powered radar, that would require cooling of this nature.

Looks like the Iranians achieved in Iraq through deft diplomacy what the US failed by using force.

And btw, I don’t think any of those news mentioned can compare to the Wall Street meltdown, Merril Lynch getting bought out, Lehman Bros. declaring bankruptcy, AIG looking for a government bailout, not to mention Freddie Mac and the Fannie Mae bail outs too.

The good news is that at least we got to survive the LHC turning on without any dimensional shifts.

I’m not sure how a 4 to 5% drop in stock markets across the world sound any better.

We seem to be reaching the conditions for a major financial meltdown.

Yes, being there right now, the democrats seem to have based most of their campaigning on the “minorities”, or the eco-cult, peace and love hippies.
They just seem to have missed that the business owning, mostly white middle class is quite important, and they will vote. And obviously not for them. They don’t want more of a “nanny” state which will tax more on the middle class, to assist all those who kick back and use the system (and I’m not saying here that all those who need help do so becaue they abuse the system, I’m saying that some do, just to be clear)

We’ll see what happens, but in any case, I’d say that Palin was a pretty good choice, and judging by the reactions of the left leaning media, the democrats are scared.

After all the record foreclosures, bankruptcies, mortgage crisis, hell going on with Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, AIG, Merril Lynch, Bears and Stearns, Lehman Bros, oil prices, falling dollar, and so on and on about to hit the fan.

What middle class? Do we still have an American Middle Class? Or have they packed up, learned quick Mandarin like Michael Phelps, to run some factory in Guangzhong?

The one on the bottom has an IRST/FLIR for search and targeting, and it seems it may have some radar pod on the side.
