The four small rectangular windows on the lower nose look like those on Thunderbird, so I am with Daz on his second guess.
Peter. I seriously doubt you will hear from them, if it doesn’t make them money it’s not going to be a high priority. I checked the seller’s current offerings tonight and he’s got a bunch of medals and the likes for sale so it would appear he makes his money off veteran’s personal items.
I’m going to be a gentleman in this instance and keep my opinions to myself this time…
😮 LOL, actually, no, the boss asked me to do one for next year and I simply changed the date to 2005. I posted the second one by mistake. 😮
I’ve been meaning to post this for a few days and since this thread is vet related, I thought I would ad it here. I work for a regional newspaper (in the Ohio – West Virginia area) designing ads and I talked my boss into giving me free space to run this ad in the October 29 issue. Response was so great she also ran it in the Nov.11 issue as well. 🙂
Dave. Don’t ever underestimate the good researching veterans can do for both them and their families. These men and women who sacrificed so much earned the right to be remembered and we owe them so much. Great job on your part and don’t ever consider this “just a hobby”, it’s so much more.
😀 Setter, Have a great one! 😀
😮 I wonder if the other CAF aircraft refer to it as the “two bagger”, one to put over it and another for any planes associated with it. 😀
Welcome, you’ll find the folks here are some of the best around!
I am, to say the least, outraged by this and any other similar act and am firm in the belief that those who are caught commiting such acts deserve no mercy. A good friend of mine suggested that part of their punishment should be to have to work in the burn ward of a veteran’s hospital so that they can see the price for their freedoms up close.
About the only thing I can come up with, as for what could be done with these items, is to donate them to a museum where they could be displayed as a proper tribute to the crewman’s sacrifice but there again might be a problem – would a museum want to display the clothes a man died in? The remaining items yes, but perhaps not the tunic.
As turbo said, it’s all for personal gain, and that just doesn’t sit right with me at all. 🙁
In a word, YES

Methinks we should consider taking three ‘breeding pairs’. 🙂

😀 Superb answer! Like Stormbird picking five is a nearly impossible task for me, but I’d say I would try to make my choices based upon saving aircraft that would represent specific historical eras so the Wright Flyer and Concorde are definitely choices…
Thanks for posting the pic, LB. I think I’m right in saying that the Lanc is R5868, now on display at the RAF Museum.
Wow! No kidding? 🙂
Thanks Mike. I’m afraid we may never see his like again, he was truly the last of a breed. If anyone has photos of Jack, please post them here so I can put them on the website I created for him…
