In December 1970 my sister and I flew in a BOAC VC10 LHR to Bombay via Beirut and Abu Dhabi. I cannot recall how long it was unfortunately. I still have the menu for the flight somehwere.

Beautiful – some of the best Turnhouse shots I have seen.

Lovely shots. Difficult to pick a favourite as there are so many good ones.

Cracking Shots. The sky is not as dull as I remembered it although when I left at around 7 the rain really started.

Very nice Robert. I particularly liked the video of the landing and didn’t realise there were so many on Youtube. I was up a couple of weeks back on Flybe on the same approach and it was a foul dark night I literally could not make out were we were until we were down. Everything on the ground looked so unfamiliar (what little I could see) that I thought we had come in on the old runway.

Lovely shots thanks for posting them. My son and I flew on G-BOAC from Fairford – an experience I will always treasure.

There is an amazing view up there but not for serious photography I don’t think. Using the Binocs there, I could see a KC-135 at Nellis and of course there is a good view of the airport and also the General Aviation Field. The view inside was pretty good too if the same attendant is still operating the machine for people jumping out with the wire attached to their backs.:diablo: Something my legs gave away at the thought of actually stepping off the platform and then a thousand plus foot drop.

Nice picture. How did you manage to get on the roof Hugh? I seem to recall about that time there was a restaurant which was high up that looked out on the apron but it was further along if I remember right.

    Hello Steve,

Is this part of the large photo collection you were trying to get rid of in March last year?

    Cheers

Cracking shots Gerry! That is a good angle on the Cargo Lion – where was that taken from?

Dave – Thanks and yes I am the original poster. I thought I had my settings to show any replies but I hadn’t, so I missed this!!! Thank you for drawing it to my attention.:D

Chris – Thanks also for this as I intend to dig through the F540s for any relevant Squadron.

Nice Pictures – I don’t see too many of Shannon.
