But the maximum width would not have changed if the cut had been straight across the wing! This is what I cannot understand. Just to make the point here, it’s not you guys – I’ve seen it done on a few large aircraft moves, in particular my own 1-11. Surely a straight cut would make it easier to fabricate new mounting points and make the join less visible….

Us Geordies and Mackems have the situation under control. If anyone started to riot, there’d be a larger mob attacking the rioting muppets just for the fun of it. 😀

There’s a few ways to deal with these riots, unfortunately all involve napalm.

To shamelessly quote a friend of a friend… :” I don’t quite understand looting whilst rioting. At what point do you stop standing up for what you believe in and decide life would be better with a free radio alarm clock?”

and another…. ” I see it wasn’t long before his mates wheeled out the obligatory “he was a good lad” comments. Yeah, course he was. I remember the last time I was under 24hr Police Surveillance and got a double-tap to the forehead for not having reflectors on my pushbike”

not everyone who seems a bit “odd” is full of lies though 🙂 ey JT

Care to explain? PM will do….

The fellow I was referring to claimed to have served in the Falklands and Iraq, sustained injuries, collected a medal, even claimed special forces duty. All utter tosh according to the relevant regiment, who had never heard of him, and didn’t appear in their list of Falklands vets let alone medal holders. (I had distant family in said regiment and it was easy enough to check).

There is no excuse for pretending to be someone you’re not. the guy from DX should have been proud enough to have served his country and been collecting monies for those in need. The fact that he was man enough to be in the armed forces is good enough for most. I care not that he never shot anyone or came under fire.

I was a lowly aircraft mechanic, low rank, and served for only 7 years before PVR-ing. I’m proud to have served dispite never leaving the country and never firing a shot in anger. The closest I came to death was a rather annoyed policeman whom I nearly ran over with a Landrover… different story for another time… I did get a medal though… it turns out that I was in the right place for long enough to get an utterly worthless Queen’s Jubilee medal. Still, it makes a good paperweight.

My grandfather was in the Army during WW2, in the western desert for the duration no less. The guy was a hero. End of……. He was an MT driver alledgedly…….

Agreed, both. Non destructive testing requirements are often determined by the results of the destructive testing and some rather large-brained individuals who can calculate the average life-span of a particular metallic structure due to its properties…

NDT in the field ranges from basic visual checks with a torch and a mk.1 eyeball, to Eddy Current, dye penetrant, even x-rays.

Boeing 737-500’s have a problem with cracking in the wing roots apparently, and this would have been picked up initially by eye, recorded, monitored, followed by fleet inspections and a fleet wide recommendation to inspect at certain intervals.

Just remember that the Comet accidents highlighted key things about metal fatigue that were not known at the time….

Disgusting, but there are too many people like that. I’ve had personal experience of such a person. 😡

Anyway, Hydrogen cell vehicles are the future, not batteries… One question – just how difficult is it to make Hydrogen fuel?….
