Easy one….
Because there are no other shows which they could do on the same day this far north.
Poor show this year – even Samson Aviation say they only have 18 visiting aircraft booked… and 9 of them will be red hawks…
catalina is already at NCL, Team Viper expected to display, Vulcan expected to fly at the show, but likely to be several miles off the coast as per usual. I live a mile from the front and don’t go… Its just an excuse for the makems to have a heavy drinking session. bad times.:(
Couzinet 70 Arc-en-Ciel, post 1935….
Well done guys…. just remember to park it nicely – I want to be able to get my new toy in there too IF it happens…. 😀
I *THINK* I saw a Catalina heading into Newcastle about an hour ago…. it was about 5 miles away, so I could have been mistaken.
Either way, its the death of F1 for alot of people. Me included.

In Transformers (The new one… dark of the moon) there is a BAC 1-11 in the background of the Hangar scene….
RMR, you are quite correct – thats the one! (It’s yellow now, but looked much better grey)
THANK YOU!
I’d love to make an observation, but I can’t see past my own cataracts… 😀
WP870 does….
Its still there… well most of it is. I have the tail boom in the back of my 1-11, and the tail rotor gearbox and shaft are bench mounted, but the pod is still in the shed where it was. (I saw it today). The flying school can be contacted through their web site – Neil Clarke is le grand fromage and should be able to help. (Sorry, no contact details to hand, but a quick google should find it…)
John
Damn you, nJayM… I’ve just lost an entire night….. 😀
Mike, speak to Northumbria Flying school… they have an R22 which completed a barrel roll at zero feet a few years back….
