The world of light aircraft is a bit scary… since the LAA are in effect, the design authority for the type, you’d have hoped that they would have a set of plans in an archive somewhere…. ah well, over to the Taylor owners…
You’re going to tension your flight controls to a figure suggested on a forum? Ask the LAA Engineering team…….
Too late. Still, I could become a ghost writer…
Coat, bum, door, way out etc.
No point leaving. Hell, if I took offence to correction when I was wrong, I’d have killed myself by now. 😉
Picture No.1 is real. The question was asked about the model, which did exist. Hopefully it has been answered in one of the links by Matty. Can we move on?
An oil change will never change all of the oil – hot or cold, there will always be some left in the smaller galleries and as a coating on all exposed parts.
Following various AMMs for engine overhaul / storage, etc, the correct procedure seems to be to get the engine oil hot, drain it out. Refill, run and drain. Any oil left in the galleries should be of a higher percentage of new oil.
There is an issue – it’s damned expensive and more than a bit wasteful.. unless you happen to own a Gulf State….
Someone forgot to tell the film crew that it was CGI….. OP 1 : Experts 0

“sorry to be negative but peoples inability to spot obvious CGI from real never ceases to amaze me!”
Sorry to be negative, but peoples inability to spot obvious reality from CGI never ceases to amaze me! :p (No offence intended, but such things make me chuckle….)
£400,000 for a large aircraft servicing (C-check) is cheap.
Many years ago, we had the YAM Halifax, BBMF’s Lancaster and Sally B parked at the end of the runway with Lindy looking on. I miss the airshows!
Phil, PLEASE stop posting this! I stitch my sides back together and then find it posted again. I’m crying with laughter!
Exhibit a: Newcastle International Airport – £50 million in debt with no real expansion plans.
Exhibit b: Durham Tees Valley Airport – No aircraft! (it does have a few regional jobs and a dismantling facility)
Why would anyone want another airport in a region which can’t sustain two?
No idea. I couldn’t get the right angle to get the registration, and it was dark when it flew in. The other photo I’ve seen from a different angle has a windsock strategically placed…….
Flight radar 24 claimed it was A6-MMM, flight number DUB002
I imagine that its quite a large step straight up to the wing…..
Edit: Damn. beaten by 30 seconds! 😀
It was an accessible location to get the latest news or sports headlines. I used it until the advent of the ‘red button’. Other than better graphics, the red button hasn’t moved much past Ceefax (and the Teletext on ITV). The news headlines are still in basic text format, but this newer format is a bit more expandable. (Yes I too used to play Bamboozle….)
It’s gone, but should not be forgotten as it was the dawn of the ‘on-demand’ age.

How would you set the rules though? You’d get every lunatic in the world showing up to get the ‘value’ of a corroded heap of aluminium or trying to flog it to gullible enthusiasts (there are some!), being told it’s scrap here by those who know, and then it appears on flea-bay for £2000 as a rare Spitfire component as endorsed by Key Publishing……
