So he said that without an air to air missile, our air to air fighters would be rubbish?…. Sounds like he has a point.

What options were there for short-range A2A missiles for the Harrier platform?

Give these guys a call, they will have some BUT they are NOT an approved aircraft supplier if it is for an airworthy beast. The metal is cheap and they may have off cuts.

Probably the only people who KNOW and have PROOF of what this photo actually is, are long dead. It’s been altered though – no speculation there. Get a high definition copy of it and remov the parts which look as if they have been altered. You’ll find your original aircraft there! (And I’ll put money on it being an ANT 16)

Probably something to do with a certain long-delayed film containing ethnic non-cats.

It would be nice to see KB976 out of the containers though

ANT-20 with slightly revised nose glazing

    http://www.fiddlersgreen.net/models/aircraft/Tupolev-Ant20.html

probably the ANT-20 Makim Gorky in a pre-use staged photo, as the nose glazing doesn’t tie in with the aircraft in its flight phase. Another option is that it is a pre-production ANT-20bis before the omission of the fuselage pod-mounted engines

On reflection… its more like the ANT-16, but again, the nose glazing is not right…

edit: I think I’ve got it… its an ANT-16, BUT its a modified publicity shot – the spats were never fitted in service. The forward fuselage glazing is false – the rear one is painted onto the photo and you can make out the original SQUARE glazing within the fwd painting…The ANT-16’s bomb aimers position and nose turret have been painted over to disguise its role (in the same manner that many WW2 pics were adjusted by censors). The cockpit may hae had physical cover rigged over the original open cockpit, but I think that and the glazing between the pylon engine mount is also fake.

A doctored prototype of the ANT-16 seems like a good theory to me…

Its the same as education and aviation maintenance. The paperwork for each to function must, in order:

    1. Equal the combine weight of the entire class (including all equipment) to allow learning to happen

    2. Equal the weight of the aircaft before it is allowed to leave the hangar

in reply to “Why does the propellor have an anti-clockwise rotation (when viewed from behind)when the Spitfire prototype quite clearly has a propellor which rotates clockwise? Sorry, chap, but that ain’t prototype Spitfire…” and “It looks like YOU have been had. Its NOT from that Spitfire”

“sorrey chap ur wrong so you now more than manstan air muesem and hawkeng muesem do you ive got paper work to prove stick to ur air fix models

It would be interesting to hear from Manston or Hawkinge.
