I have finally found a photo from 1981 showing G-ATJW at Denham. Also found a note that it was Harry Elkins that owned and I believe rebuilt it.
I flew F-BHTF another SNCAN/Nord 1203 during the Falaise airshow weekend back in 1991 and thought it was a lovely responsive aircraft with typical French idiosyncrasies in the design. I think there was a sighting hole in the floor by the rudder pedals, to see if the nosewheel was locked down or not!
G-ATJW I believe was rebuilt by a guy who operated out of Denham, I can’t remember his name now. I remember the aircraft being put together and flying in early 1980’s briefly before being sold possibly at auction and moving to the USA.
It was registered N5337M and checking the FAA register is shown as being in Montana now.
The Fox Moth was G-ACDD I think and was briefly at Headcorn in the 90’s being flown by Roger Fiennes, before heading back to New Zealand I believe
A few years ago I was towed by G-ALWW at Bidford, also the Tiger Club Tigers were used for many years for glider towing, particularly at Challock where the Super Tigers could tow two gliders at a time.
The new Tiger at Headcorn G-ANJA is fitted out for towing but no chance that it will be used for this, due to costs.
Anyone got photos of the Rollason Turbulent G-ARRZ towing a Swallow at Farnborough?
So what was SX330 then?
The Trein Maersk arrives in Leghorn on 11th May, err somehow appropriate me finks 🙂 ?
My first flight was a Cessna (possibly either a 182 or 206) on floats off a lake in Norway in 1969 to look at the glaciers and ice cap, the only problem was that I was terrified, aged 11 and ended up not making the flight that pleasant for the others. Since then I have got a pilots licence, so have overcome that fear.
My father first flew in Alan Cobham’s Air Ferry at Blue Barns field on the Ipswich Road north of Colchester in 1933/4, he remembers seeing the Birdman, amongst other things, and my mother in a Rapide at Heathrow in 1952.
Has anyone got a photo of the Rapide at Heathrow, not sure how many were operated from there and she tells me the pilot was a woman?
At the time the Tiger Club operated

I think there was a biplane trio (2 Stampes and a Tiger) at least in 1970, going by Benjy’s book. Though I know in later years the Turbs were thought by the organisers as too slow for the long crowd line at a seafront show.
