    Good find!

Another one on the watch list.

A little bit of digging around seems to suggest that Peru is indeed still operating the SU-22.

Found a pic apparently taken on July 5th 2012: http://www.flickr.com/photos/aeroprints/7508497952/

And a video of a landing, again reported to be in 2012 – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7aFUnhW2prQ

    Interesting stuff!

I think the World Airforces guide is out of date – If it’s the one I’m thinking off then it has a few errors: e.g. it still lists Peru as operating Su-22s when they’ve been retired a long time ago.

To be honest Wikipedia is better than a lot of stuff but even it has out of date bits (e.g. lists Bulgarian MiG-21s and Ecuadorian Mirage F1s as still operable).

I think Scramble is a good site as it has a database with actual serials ( http://www.scramblemagazine.nl/) but again it’s fragmentary.

The other site useful (yet again incomplete) for attrition is http://www.ejection-history.org.uk/ especially the by year listings.

However it’s all a bit of work collating data.

Thanks for the links – I notice that even on the latest WAF 2013 report, there’s still 17 Peruvian SU-22’s listed as active!

The US 30 Year Aviation plan report 2013-2042 – this should make some very interesting reading.

Great photos Hugh, I was fortunate enough to get a couple of shots of this beauty myself at the show.

I’ve always been especially fond of the B-1 for the way it somehow manages to retain a certain elegance, despite it’s immense bulk.

A truly awe-inspiring beast on takeoff also .

Not strictly from a photo-graphical point of view, but I didn’t make it to RIAT 2010 and missed the F22 display team which was pretty gutting! (more so once I saw that display on youtube later – epic).

I love Top Gun, granted I skip past the bulk of the cheese nowadays, but the aerial scenes of those F14’s and F5’s is enough for me to ignore any of the numerous inaccuracies!

I mean it could have been worse guys, an episode of 24 featured an F-117A Nighthawk “shooting down” Air Force One….

I’m currently reading “Chickenhawk” by Robert Mason, a very visceral real-life account of what it was like to fly Huey’s in Vietnam.

I’m about half-way through and finding it a fascinating read, if you’re like me and find the Vietnam war interesting because of the sheer amount of air power involved and you want a descriptive, captivating account from a guy who saw some serious action then I would definitely recommend this one!
