Tommyinyork: The Thomsonfly B767-200 eaither get parked on Stand 7,8 or 9 while the larger 300’s can only go on stand 8 & 9 as these are the dedicated wide bodied stands at LBA.
Mark you must have walked past me also yesturday up at LBA. I was near the bench from 13:00 till 13:30. But got too cold and then walked round to Terminal and sat in there until about 15:20. then went for the 15:23 757 bus back to leeds.
So Mark L & PMN are you still up for a meet tomorrow at Leeds/Bradford Airport??
If so where and what time are you going to be arriving. I’ll be up near the cemetry/14 Loop if runway 14 in use by 11:30ish or if Runway 32 in use near the bench next to the tunnel.
Word has it that Zoom are also looking at DSA as well as LBA at the moment. The Boeing 767 aircraft dose’nt seem to have a problem on LBA short runway when operating from 14.
Just look the Last three long Haul flights over to Bridgetown/Barbados by Thomsonfly machines. All of which have been able to operate direct from LBA and have been operated by the B767-200’s and the larger B767-300’s.
While every summer for the past 3 years have also seen Thomsonfly base an B767-200 for 2 to 3 months. Not forgetting aslo last summer swe-fly flights. Which were hevey as they were carrying Cargo as well from Lahore.
The Sunday service has always been a bit of a strange one, the fact that a) it has only ever been operated by 733s, and b) it has been dropped, begs the question why it was ever done in the first place.
Just to make an amend to this last quote by LBArules: The B757-200 G-LSAA did in fact operate the Sunday Tenerife flight only last week and also the first 3 weekends of Boeing 757-200 Operations in October 2005. Also the Sunday flights dose’nt get dropped until the summer season starts. This is because the Leeds based Fleet is needed else where. So they can’t actully do the flight.
Also another Jet2.com Boeing 737-300 (G-CELY) broke down on departure from LBA last night (Sunday 15/01/06). She taxied out to Runway 14 for a departure to Prague as the LS195. Just a few minutes late she returned to Stand. So she was also replaced by another B737-300.
Guess which one??
The one and only B737-300 (G-CELC) which was the aircraft involved in last Wednesday insdent. Looks like they might be some problems with the Jet2.com Boeing 737-300’s at the moment.
Nice photos from up northeast, mate.
A330-300: The LS looks ugly as hell compared to the others.
This might be cause we are getting board off seeing them all the time at LBA day in day out.
Well seems everyone is flying BA theses days. (B744’s B757’s & 146’s) I thought i’ll join in. So flew one the BA citi express (Or should they now be called BA Connect) Embraer 145s from Southampton down to Blagnac

Hi
Roumors have be going round of late, that Lufthansa are at last allowing bmi regional to operate a frankfurt service out of LBA. Jet2 have be allocated slots in Dusseldorf as we all know. But they can’t use that slot they have at the moment due to all the aircraft been utilised at that time of day. Though jet2 could have reaplied for an earlier slot in the morning. Getting back to LBA by 11:00am. Unless as said in my previous post they bring in a 10 based aircarft. Now that would work no problems.
So its got to be eaither one of the two following airlines who will announce this german route. I do hope it will be bmi regional just because they’ll open up more world wide connections with Lufthansa and make it a very popular for the business travel as well as the likes of me and you with the tiny bmi baby fares.
Tom
Don’t worry i’ll be up at LBA next friday. I’m destined to get some photos of the Air Europa and that New B757-200 (G-LASB) belonging to Jet2.com.
Out of intrest i,ve just found out that B737-300 (G-CELY) is at Leeds at the moment. She came in on the LS323 service this morning from Belfast. Also G-CELA is roumored to be coming back to LBA tomorrow as well.
Been reading elsewhere and it looks like Leeds/Bradford is getting another Boeing 737-300 that making 10 aircraft been based by Jet2 at LBA for summer 2006. Also 2 more short routes (Eg Domestic/Short European Hops) will be announced before the end of next month.
The latest i have heard is that the second machine for Blackpool is coming to Leeds for the summer season which should be eaither G-CELR/P. While blackpool will be a one aircraft base for the summer season.
Once the 10th aircraft is free of it’s duties at LBA in Late september/Early October thats when blackpool will recive its second based aircraft. So blackpool will be a 2 jet2.com based aircraft fleet by winter 2006/07.

Thats all i can think off at the moment. Note the distinck lack of expansion from bmi british midland. Not anything new from them since the Airbus A319’s arrived on the Heathrow runs.
The 767 positioned in on time but was immediately posted as delayed departure as soon as it arrived. Was there a tech problem after landing or was there a problem at the other end – somebody lost the ship or something??
The Thomsonfly Boeing 767-200 G-BYAB at LBA this morning Suffered a problem on short finals this morning in-bound from Manchester.
She encountered a flock of birds about 200ft from touchdown. She suffered a bird strike with 5, that right, 5 Black Headed Gulls. So an Engine repair took place on stand 8 at LBA this morning in which caused the delayed departure. Thomsonfly sent in its Mooney 201 (G-OBAL) with an engineer from Luton at around 11ish to fix the aircrafts engine. Then about 12ish they did an engine run on stand to test it. Once this was complete the aircraft was safe to get on its way to Bridgetown. Leavening LBA at 13:18. Just 4 hours late.
I wonder if they’ll hold the cruise ship for them??
Your aircraft is 4 hours late on arrival from LBA, Then seeing your ship has set sail and has already left the Harbour/Docks. Now that wouldn’t be nice.
Hi
Nice Shots mate. I was going to go up but its way to cold today. Did you see the 4 hour delayed Thomsonfly B767-200 going to Bridgetown-Barbados??
Future Pilot wrote
may I ask what is Jet 2’s official tail design? is it the red one with ‘Jet2.com’ written on it?
The silver tail was the official tail design when the airline was launched back in 2003. But with the new Manchester base in 2004 came a new tail design. (The Red one that is) Also it’s to advertise the website more as they sell most of there seats via the net nowa days. like most airlines do.
So the Red tail is the official design now. The remainder off the fleet which still have the silver tails will be repainted when the aircraft go in for there next D-Check all acounts.
I reckon A321’s, but would much prefer to see a crunky A300.
Yes you are right. I have just had it comfirmed that Onur Air will in fact be sending Airbus A321’s to LBA on the new weekly Glodtrail holidays Wednesday departures to Turkey-Bodrum
Hi guys
Just recived some more details regarding the new summer 2006 charter flights to Turkey-Bodrum for Goldtrail Holidays.
These flights will now in fact be operated by Onur Air aircraft not as i have said in previous messages Freebird airlines.
Ounr air operate a fleet consisting of 4 diffrent types of aircraft.
9 x Airbus A300’s
2 x Airbus A320’s
10 x Airbus A321’s
6 x McDonnell Douglas MD-80/90
Don’t know what aircraft LBA flights will be operated by as yet.
