Your theory is right Tom
But there again NCL (Charter) and MAN (Scheduled & Charter ) a satrated with flights down to Tenerife. Would it be wise for the likes of Jet2.com to operate flights from these destinations.
Edinburgh would be the most likley out of the bases to get the next low cost flights to Tenerife. But Their is one problem. They got to get in on the act before FlyGlobespan do.
What do you guys think??
Yes, But at least it has time to break up first this summer.
With the 2 Based Jet2 737’s and Ryanairs and not forgetting the Monarch A320’s the place will be at braeking point.
Heres the Press Release from Jet2.com

Like everyone else, I suspect it a w-leg with one of the LBA Boeing 757-200’s working as follows
LBA-TFS-BLK-TFS-LBA (Most likley to be operated by Leeds crews as well) Can’t see the New Blackpool B737’s crews will be trained up for it.
Got to admit that a Cardiff – Leeds – Aberdeen service would probally work for Air Southwest or even Air Wales.
Because at the Moment we need somebody to offer cheaper flights up to Aberdeen from Leeds due to the High fares Eastern Airways currently offer. End of the day Eastern are withdrawing there LBA – Isle of Man services this Sunday due to what they blame is poor passenger figures which is all down to there high fares. Before Eastern Airways came to Leeds, British Airways Citi Express use to fill the BAe Jetstreams 41s twice daily very Successfully.
Air Southwest could Integrate there exsisting Leeds services and offer better connections for Aberdeen customes onto Bristol and Newquay.
Hi
LBA website is totally wrong. If you go to the co-op travel website http://www.sundeal.co.uk the new corfu flight is bookable from May right up till October 2006.
Even the Newly replaced My Travel flights to Teneife on a Friday along with the New Iberworld flight to Arrecife on Thursdays are not on the LBA list. Not to mention that is still showing bmi operating the Verona service as we know its been operated by Astraeus on a saturday morning.
Hi
Thomas Cook Holidays have added a new weekly LBA – Corfu service for summer 2006 season.
The new second weekly departure to Corfu will be operated by the Based Astraeus B737-700 on friday nights. (Instead of the aircraft going down to Tenerife for Airtours Holidays)
The Airtours Holidays, Tenerife Friday over night flight will now be replaced with a My Travel Airways Aircraft instead opertaing LBA-TFS-LBA. so an aircraft will now infact have to postiton in from one of My Travels UK Bases.
Eh
Oh and the 14 ILS at Leeds is CAT1 only – not CAT2.
Well very shortly they’ll be doing CAT2 to 14, Trust me. Its in the process off being approved. Should be on line by end of this summer.
Also a certified CAT3 aircraft, with certified CAT3 crew and a certified CAT3 airflied, does not have to go making practice approaches into an airport like MAN before they are allowed to make a live approach.
It was only back in November that a Jet2.com B737-300 (G-CELG) had to do a practice CAT3 at Manchester as the LBA crew operating noticed that the frame was not certified for CAT3. This aircraft was operating on the Barcelona – Leeds LS232 service. Without doing it the aircraft would have been stook at Manchester and the crew & passengers bused back to LBA.
Infact though the crew brung her to back to Leeds as the LS232E and did a CAT3 approach onto Runway 32 with her passengers on board as well. This was Aslo the day after LBA recived upto 20 odd diverts from MAN.
Astreaus did’nt seem to be doing that good as well now down in sixth position with a high proportion of delayed flights. The average flight operated over 41 minutes behind schedule (compared to 24 minutes over the same period in 2004). More than 1 in 6 Astraeus flights was over 1 hour late, and only 56% of flights were on-time, down more than 11% on the 2004 figure for the airline.
Astraeus will be happy that the LBA figurs are not included for them Summer 2005. Lost count off all the delays the LBA base B737-300 had. Brake downs, Ground crew driving into it one of the aircrafts front Doors, Fuel stops on some longer flights to Cyprus and the caneria islands and not forgetting that Divert into France due to loss of cabin pressure as well.
Just hope they can do better this year. With one of the B737-700 units been based at LBA and getting rid of that B737-300 G-STRB. she broke down all the time.
Also got some more bits to say about Jet2’s B757’s
The New Jet2.com B757-200’S G-LSAB will be making a flying visit to Manchester on Saturday January 21st.
The LBA based Jet2 Boeing 757 Flight crews will be doing some practice CAT3 Approaches with her so as to when its is too bad to Land at leeds on a CAT3 on Runway 32 or CAT2 on Runway 14 she will be able to make a divert to Manchester. And do CAT3 Approach to MAN runways.
Sorry folks shes not staying there for long though. It will return back to LBA later that day. Both B757’s units G-LSAA and G-LSAB will be base at LBA until at least the 3 unit arrives around winter 2006/07. Then one of the 3 new B757-200 will be released from its LBA duties and then be based MAN.

Would’nt it be nice if LBA did get all these new Long Haul Destinations that have been roumored of late.
Orlando,& Toronto on Thomas Cook, Boeing 757-200 or its bigger brother the Boeing 757-300. While Gambia and Egypt to be served with the based Astraeus Boeing 737-700. And not fogetting India to be operated by the new Swe-fly/Spicejet.com operation.
All this and a direct German service from LBA by Jet2.com or any other airline who wants to do it, Would make my 2006 a dream year.
Well heres mine for my LBA spotters site http://www.freewebs.com/rossbailey/
Really do need a new URL. Anyone know where i can get one for free???
