Heres the official press release from Boeing.com and also a picture of what theses Monarch 787-800’s will really look like. http://www.boeing.com/news/releases/2006/q3/060818c_nr.html

Boeing, Monarch Airlines Announce Order for 787 Dreamliner

SEATTLE, Aug. 18, 2006 — Boeing [NYSE: BA] and Monarch Airlines of the United Kingdom announced today that the airline has ordered six Boeing 787-8s with purchase rights for another four. The order is worth $916 million at list prices.

With first delivery starting in 2010, the airline will use the new advanced, fuel-efficient 787s as the basis of its future long-haul operations. Monarch’s current long-haul fleet comprises Boeing 767s, A300s and A330-200s.

The Dreamliner’s size, extended range and superior fuel efficiency make it ideally suited for Monarch Airlines’ business model, which includes both scheduled and charter operations. Since its launch in April 2004, the Boeing 787 Dreamliner has attracted the attention of customers operating a variety of business models.

“Operating successfully in the leisure market requires flexible and innovative products. With the 787’s longer-range capabilities, we will be opening up new destinations in the Americas, Asia and Africa,” said Peter Brown, chief executive officer of Monarch Airlines. “We are very impressed by Boeing’s use of innovative technologies on the 787, such as composite materials, which will reduce our maintenance costs.”

Monarch Airlines, headquartered in Luton, is a leading provider in the U.K. of low-cost scheduled flights from bases at London Gatwick, London Luton, Manchester and Birmingham airports, as well as a major supplier to the tour operating industry.

“Monarch’s passengers will be thrilled with the 787’s innovative and appealing interior design, which features more personal space and a range of enhancements that will help the airline to significantly differentiate its product,” said Marlin Dailey, Boeing Commercial Airplanes vice president of Sales for Europe, Russia and Central Asia. “The Dreamliner’s faster cruise speed will also enable passengers to benefit from shorter sector times on long flights. The 787 has proven appeal to the long-haul leisure market segment.”

The Boeing 787 Dreamliner, scheduled for delivery beginning in 2008, provides passengers with a better flying experience and operators with a more efficient commercial jetliner. Using 20 percent less fuel per passenger than similarly sized airplanes, the 787 is designed for the environment with lower emissions and quieter takeoffs and landings. Inside the airplane, passengers will find cleaner air, bigger windows, more stowage space and improved lighting.

Since the 787 launch in April 2004, 32 customers including Monarch have logged 420 orders and commitments, of which 377 are firm orders valued at $59 billion at current list prices, making the Dreamliner the most successful commercial airplane launch in history.

As I have said before she (G-LSAD) is due to return to Southend in 4 weeks time for a paint job. As it was a rush job to get her in service at Manchester on time for the busy August holiday period.

By the way LBA has been comfirmed to be having 3 off the 5 X’S Jet2.com B757’s this winter 06/07. 2 of the aircraft are permantley needed at LBA this winter while the 3rd will be out stationed at tenerife with are crews and staff. So All Blackpool, Belfast & Newcastle flights to TFS will be operated by one of the current LBA based B757’s along with LBA Flight & Cabin crew.

The other 2 B757’s will be based Manchester.

Nice shots Danny! I thought the Onur was supposed to be an A300. What happened?!

    Paul

The Onur Air A300’s to Bodrum never miterlised. It’s only operated once on the Bodrum route which was 2 weeks ago due to a problem with the A321 that normally operates the flight.

The only Onur Air A300 due to operate to LBA is summer is the weekly Monday morning Dalaman service. And has done so, so far anyway. Also this service has now been extended all the way up until late October due to very good forward bookings.

Hope that clears up the current situation

Give It a rest lads, we have been here before. If the guy from flysunjet is talking the truth we will all find out sooner or later. Lets give the guy sometime and Credit for talking to us when questioned. (Not Forgetting they traced us by there website cookies)

The guy also mentioned there not announcing routes or anything else until December but that they are using the Air Kisosk system. This means something in the trade. Jet2 & Air Southwest use this booking system to good effect. Also take a look at Manx2, Two months ago we all said this airline wouldn’t take-off. Now their flying LET410’s from the Isle of Man to Blackpool and Belfast and soon Leeds/Bradford with a second aircraft

So lets wait. If it dose Happen! Some of us will be eating humble pie. There again it could be another Alpha1!

As big brother would say! It’s up to you to decide.

Astraeus problems now at LBA instead of MAN

The LBA – Malaga AEU941 flight left 1 hour late this morning at 08:36 while last nights Delayed Las Palmas AEU953 went out at 07:50 this morning after a 11 hour delay.

So im guessing AEU posistioned 2 aircraft to LBA this morning to operate these flights. Anyone know which ones???

Both aircraft are due back at LBA as follows

    AEU954 LAS PALMAS 0605 EXPECTED 17:15
    AEU942 MALAGA 1430 EXPECTED 14:30

Odd, Toronto flights booked via Globespan have always been Air Transat operated as they are principle booking agent for non tour operator bookings (i.e.not in a package). Given the TS code of flights I dont think it has changed.

Globespan will no longer use Air Transat as their main agent for their UK-Canadian routes from October 2006. Tour Operator Canadian Affair has taken over Air Transat as their main supplier of flights to the UK. They Canadian Affair currently use Thomas Cook Airlines and My Travel Airlines Aircraft

So now Globespan will now be offering seats on a code-sharing basis on the weekly flights from Belfast Int’l, which is currently operated by Zoom. Zoom will also be code sharing on the newly announced Liverpool – New York Route.

Globespan Holidays services from Birmingham, Exeter, Newcastle, Manchester, Glasgow and Gatwick will also be changing to be either operated by GSM or Zoom aircraft next summer

Now i hope that makes sence.
