Is LSAB the MAN based 757?

    Yes sure is.

Both G-LSAA & G-LSAC are currently based Leeds while G-LSAB is Manchester based. At the moment its anyone’s guess to as where the next 2 Boeing 757-200 for Jet2.com (G-LSAD & G-LSAE) are heading for.

One suspects Both the MAN & LBA bases will recive one each. With one still heading for TFS this coming winter 06/07 season.

    Yes it dose.

But did’nt they say that when they commenced operations from Manchester, Leeds/Bradford and not forgetting Newcastle. End of the day these are just point to point routes by aircraft which are based else where.

I think it’s safe to say the same is happening at DSA as well. If you look at the times of the DSA flights they are operated by a BHD based aircraft. Also note that times are’nt very good if you want to do a days business in Belfast you only get 4 hours.

So i guess you’ll need to say over-night or get a return to eaither LBA or MAN.

For anyone who is interested, a Jet 2 737 is currently circling the airfield at around 2,000ft. Its not doing touch and gos as we often see here.

    Presume its some training exercise…..

It’s a training flight by one off the Manchester based B737-300’s operating as Channex 100T.

Yesturday G-CELI (Jet2 Manchester) was up there for the same reason. Though she came up from the Leeds/Bradford base.

    Hi

Heres a few reports from the national broad sheet papers. Both the Times and Independent suggests a Boeing 737 is the choice for the 85 seater.

Where will the next 2 757s be based

    Hi Tommy

One of the New 2 x Boeing 757-200’s will to go to the Leeds/Bradford base while the other will go to the Manchester base.

This winter will see 1 of the 3 Leeds based B757’s machines going to the new out station at Tenerife South for the winter programme of flights. (Operating flights to Belfast, Newcastle and Blackpool.) Thus leaving both MAN and LBA with 2 x B757’s each for the winter programmes.

The Leeds base will also lose 1 of its 7 Based Boeing 737-300’s at the end of September, As it will be taking up residence at Blackpool airport for the winter as there second based machine. A third Boeing 733 will join the Blackpool base before next March as well for next summer.

A Boeing 767 has also been rumoured.

    hi tenthije

1x Global Express for commonality with the ASTOR surveillance plane

For some reason I seem to recall that RAF did test fly one off these Global Express aircraft for a couple of weeks last year. This would also most likely be able to be based at RAF Northholt with the Royal Fleet of 146’s and like you mention it would also have type commonality with the new ASTOR surveillance aircraft.

1x A330 for commonality with the MRTT tankers

The Airbus A330 would seem to be the best options for crew type commonality between the flight crews of the new RAF A330 MRTT tankers. Where would this be based though? Surly they would have problems operating out of RAF Northholt. So would it live at RAF Brize Norton with the new MRTT tankers?

Well accordig to SKY News its looking like they are going for 2 second hand passenger aircraft. So i’m guessing its now not going to be one off them new RAF A330’s.

Also they won’t become part of the Royal Fleet. But the Queen will have occasional use of the aircraft

    Flying Blair Force One

The Government is to acquire two second-hand passenger jets primarily for the use of the Prime Minister and other members of the Cabinet, according to Sky News sources.

The Queen will have occasional use of the planes but they will not become part of the Royal fleet.

The planes, inevitably being dubbed Blair Force One and Blair Force Two, are thought to be a larger passenger jet a smaller executive jet for shorter flights.

The name probably won’t stick, though, as the planes are not due to come into service until the end of 2007, or the beginning of 2008 – at which point Tony Blair is likely to have made way for a new Prime Minister.

The Government is due to officially announce the move next week.

The planes will be on permanent lease and cost around £1.5m more than the current budget of £9.5m.

The Treasury has already announced that no extra money will be set aside for ministerial travel.

The extra cost will be spread across several Government departments including the Cabinet Office and the Ministry of Defence.

At present Ministers charter aircraft according to need, rather than having their own dedicated planes.

The planes will fitted out with all the security and communications equipment necessary for Government purposes.

What are those C130’S doing up at LBA. They seem to have been in a few times recently ?

LBA is now the new Tec stop point for the RSAF instaed of MAN. This is due to the fact there is’nt much room for them at MAN anymore. Also there is reltivley no restrictions at LBA. While they take no extra room up on the main apron as park over at Multiflight.

The First machine to arrive on thursday morning was 472 which was routing Dover Air Force Base (USA) – LBA – and then on to Saudi. She was the aircraft at LBA just last week when routing to Gender. The second machine 1624 was routing King Abdulaziz, Jeddah (Saudi) – LBA -and on to USA.

Both machines are set to leave LBA with-in the next 48 hours. While 1624 will return to LBA late next week again on her return to Saudi.
