I am interested. What would you recommend as the best written account of what went on and why?
For my money, the best book I’ve read on the type was “TSR-2, Phoenix or Folly?” by Frank Barnett Jones [GMS Enterprises, 1994, ISBN: 1-870384-27-X]

Just curious, which unit is the badge on the cockpit?
I’m fairly sure that the emblem is fictitious…

Phew… Thanks for the pointers chaps, I just managed to picked up a copy of ‘The Murder of TSR-2’ from abebooks for £16… given the previous comments, I’m really looking forward to reading this!

Thanks for the feedback. With regards the example in my post, its the best I can do at the moment wieesso… I’ve asked the LEMB member who posted this if he’s able to provide us with a bigger scan…
Watch this space… 🙂

Many thanks indeed John… its still very interest material nonetheless, so thanks for taking the time to look and post 🙂 BTW, what publication is the scan from?

After consultation of Flugzeug Profile No.36, I’ve been able to get a better scan of the decal in question:
Another image in the same volume shows one of the Bu182 having crashed and I can make out the “Schwarz” logo decal on its propeller, so it looks like propellers were indeed interchangeable on the Bücker types…

Thanks for the pointer John… that would be the volume by Erwin König published by Nara Verlag circa 1987? I see that König was also involved with Flugzeug Profile Nr.36 “Die unbekannten Bücker Flugzeuge Bü 180 Student, Bü 182 “Kornett” und Bü 134″ and I have that somewhere on my library shelves… off to take a look!

Yes indeed Kenneth, it does indeed look like the decal on the colour shot provided by wieesso…
Just a thought (and another long-shot) but does anybody know if the decal pictured on the Bü182 above could be the logo for Heine?

Maybe not REALLY BIG… but the Junkers G.38 was still a big beastie at the time they were built…

This wouldn’t be the article by Graham Wilmer which according to the Frank Barnett-Jones book, appeared in Air Pictorial? No firm date mentioned other than 1981… maybe a lead?

Has anyone got big versions of these stamps? I’m decorating the front room and fancy a framed set, they are very good images. I’ve tried scanning and enlarging the originals but they are, unfortunately, the size of a postage stamp and the results look a bit crap. Were postcards issued at the time? Thanks.
If you continue to struggle Ian, let me know. I’m 99.9% sure that me father has these on a First Day Cover and it would be easy for me to scan them. BTW: What sort of size are you looking for?

After doing a bit of simple research myself, all I’ve been able to confirm that according to here this Aeronmarine-Klemm L20 (S/No.53) was indeed registered NC4921… so do any of our state-side members have any recommendations as to where I could find out any details on its time in the US and most especially from its time in Germany before export to the US…?
