Check out the LEMB thread again Stephan…
For those here who aren’t LEMB members, David Weiss of the Falcon’s Messerschmitt Bf109 Hanger has subsequently clarified that the S15 and S16 were motor sail planes. (Motorsegler)

Thanks for confirming my general suspicions Ollie… there is a train of thought on the LEMB that both could have been photographed in Greece…

No worries Mr Sceptic… thanks for digging out these two images π

Thanks for the details on N108U Mr Septic… and the same image of F-BGVU was previously linked to the original poster on WIX in post #5 π

I think we’ve got the identities in the posts above? To recap, two French registered examples were used and from that you can find the following:

This might be the F-xxxx example… F-BGVU as seen here
This is now N107U, of which the FAA Register has the following:

This link may also prove useful in trying to ID the second example:

This link might jog some memories… there appears to be an F-xxxx reg on the upper wing of one example, but I just can’t read it…

Also, post #14 of this old FlyPast thread might be useful…

This points to “Yellow 14” currently being G-ETME (formerly N108J & F-BFBV), of which GINFO has the following:

I can only echo the comments above. Having had the pleasure to sit and chat with Eric and then corresponded with him via letter, he is not only a wonderful man, in my own experience, he is also one of the rare breed of hero’s who is actually worth meeting… a glass of dark ale will be supped in his honour this weekend… π

π Many thanks Andy, that would be good if you could! If you need a scanner, I have a spare/surplus which you’re more then welcome to have… drop me a PM if you’re interested…
Also, if you or anybody else knows of crash inspection reports for other white nosed Bf109’s, then please fire away…

π Many thanks Andy… the date is as reproduced from the Jagdwaffe volume and I should have stuck with the date I’d seen elsewhere. Thanks also for the clarification of what the report says. I had seen this on a modelling forum here, but I just needed to see the actual report for myself or post a copy on a current LEMB thread discussing the validity of white nosed Bf109’s. Have you got the Crashed Enemy Aircraft Report number/reference please?
Cheers
Pete
Many thanks for the pointer and thanks for looking π I have the Jagdwaffe volume you mention and would dearly like to see the Crash Report from where the comments were drawn, especially with regards the white cowling this example apparently wore – as can be seen here
