For those interested, click here for a piece I wrote on Duxford’s Bf109E, WNr.1190 back in the late 1990’s…

Give it a rest m8… I (and others here) have no urge whatsoever to view some of the images which were posted here (subsequently removed) or images viewable via links posted here which the poster has made no effort to warn us of what is to be shown.

How would you like photos of your loved ones, mutilated or dying, to be posted here?

It really is about time this thread was closed… every clip is linked so to keep going over old ground serves no purpose whatsoever…

Many thanks for posting those 27vet, especially their captive Luftwaffe. For those interested, all of these are original former Luftwaffe examples:

Me262B-1a/U1, WNr.110305 coded “Red 8” of IV./NJG11
Bf109F-2/trop coded “White 6” of I./JG27
Fw190A-6/R4, WNr.550214 coded PN+LU of III./NJG11
Bf109E-3, WNr.1289 coded “Red 2” of 2./JG26

The Bf109E-3, displayed as a crash-landed wreck, was flown by Uffz.Heinz Wolf who crash landed at Udimore in Sussex on 28th November 1940…

Hopefully the direct link below will show the photo to which Bruce is referring in his previous post…

Your spot on Graham… unfortunately, with the 24/7 media coverage of events like this and the posting of eye witness video, comment and the speculation this then brings, as has been seen here and elsewhere, the chances of restraint are sadly zero…

I for one have no wish to click on any of the various links being posted to see graphic images, but the fact that its a link means that I have a choice to do so if I wish. Posting images directly to this thread, especially when they do no more than encourage the armchair investigators to post whilst the numbers of casualties has yet to be finalised, is another matter completely. In my mind, if an image wouldn’t be posted in any of the Key Publishing magazines, then it shouldn’t appear here either…

The link in post 1 contains a photo of two outer wings The text points out that they are not off V.2 (that the centre section is from) but the staff hope to be able to join the three sections together.

Surely you mean the Ho229V-3 Roger? The V-2 was destroyed in a crash on 18th Feb’45 at Oranienburg. The remains of the V-2 from this crash were eventually flown to the RAE in the back of an Ar232 in July 1945 appearing at the German Aircraft Exhibition in Oct/Nov displayed engineless and with one wing and the cockpit demolished. According to Eric Brown, these remains were then shipped to the US, but official confirmation of its fate is sadly lacking…

Thanks for the heads-up on this… I do wonder though after the planned extensive period of stabilisation and possible mating together of the centre section and wings, in what paint scheme they will finish her in?

I wouldn’t hold your breath chaps:

“Last week a defence source had said it was “extremely unlikely” the Red Arrows would do any more displays this year but the RAF said it could not confirm any timings.”

You could try The History Press. Their senior commissioning book editor Jay Slater posted on the LEMB back at the end of 2010 looking for new books/new authors, so why not drop him a line at jslater@thehistorypress.co.uk?

Perhaps something along the lines of a Caudron C.690?

Not very much there to much to float my boat either, albeit the three Buchons very nearly swung it late last night… Not only between cameras, I also like to take breaks between my visits anyway, so will probably go in 2012 or 2013…

Fancy a catapult launch and then landing in a Fi156? Take a look at this!

“To ascertain the possibility of operating land-based aircraft on board shipping vessels, an auxiliary forward facing landing deck some 25m (82ft) in length was built at the stern of aircraft recovery ship Greif (Griffon). Following preliminary trials on land with the Fi156A-0 (D-IJSN, WNr.608) two landings were attempted on 1st Nov 1937. The first with Leo Conrad proving sucessful, whilst at the second with Albert Wahl, the aircraft went overload and sank but the pilot was able to be rescued.
