Very nice indeed Mark. Had it not been for a severe post St Georges Day hangover, I very nearly made the trip up to Duxford today! Gutted!

Thanks Peter – just that naughty swastika to add (but not while she resides in Germany )
Yes indeed, I had noticed it was missing… Not wishing to encourage thread drift, I also see that they’ve concealed the markings on the HA-1112, WNr.234 (former G-AWHT of โBattle over Britain fame) which is also there. For those interested, there are some fantastic images of it being worked on here ๐

Here is a photo of a Caudron P.V.200 reproduced from Flight Magazine Nov 24 1932

There certainly is a resemblance and there is no reason to think that a land-based version of the amphibian could have been developed – but then again, there are more differences than matches.

Some additional information posted on the LEMB:
“This was the fuselage of Fw200C coded F8+BR found at Bordeaux Mรฉrignac in 1944, and used for ground training for parachutists under the famous future Gรฉnรฉral Marcel Bigeard. The camp was located near the Dune du Pyla in Arcachon, in the park of Hotel Haรฏtza. The fuselage vanished some years later and one of its parts reused as a caravan! It was like Nessy for aviation enthusiasts for years in this area of France! Source : “Le Fana de l’aviation” nยฐ298, August 1994.“
Lets hope that additional information isn’t as elusive as Nessy ๐

It certainly seems to have seen better days and looks like it dropped a couple of Michelin stars too ๐ I’d still be interested to learn how it came to be sat there in the first place and its subsequent fate.

Top man Fluffy… very much appreciated ๐
Out of interest, did you know that from memory or do you have/know of any published sources on the DB60x series? My library is distinctly lacking a decent tome or two on German aero-engines so any pointers appreciated.
