Golden Apple Training day. Recurrent training for old b*ggers and introducing new team pilots to type(s).

Aeroplanes ran without a single hiccup.

    Well done ARC!

IIRC there were a pile of them scrapped at RAF Shawbury in about ’61-63 ish?

I certainly remember the ‘blue note’ they made?

Any sound/film files coming up folks?

Saucer of cream to Black Knight……………..but I do concur. Spencer changed his underpants after that trip. He hardly had time to get bored! He may have been referring to training trips in a two seater perhaps.

Full face mask avoids that ‘being recognised’ problem…

Also avoids ‘ugly, old fart pilots’ screwing up the shots for you lot!!!
    😎

Seriously tho’ the Campbell helmet (with mask) does go a long way to pilot bonce protection + a halfway house to looking ‘quasi vintage’.

During David Henchie’s time I thought there was a cunning plan to extend the runway to the west? That would be nice for the ‘suck and blow’ aircraft.

Thanks for the very useful feedback/comments from you all.

This particular occasion, in Dar es Salaam, was a watershed in my life and it was from this point I decided that I wanted to be a pilot. I did indeed becme a professional pilot although it was some 45 years later before I managed to fly a Vampire single seater!

If anyone has a colour photo of the Vampire in 32 squadron markings or a colour drawing I would be most grateful.
