IRAQI PILOT,
There has been some mentioning of Iraqi Air Force using few Shenyang F-6
(Chinese built equivalent of Mig 19) during the 80′. Perhaps you could bring here some more information on this subject ? In particular I would be interested on their camo schemes and similar other things.
Thanking you in advance.
LIKA
Thanks my friend for the detailed info,
You are indeed quite right in pointing out the faults in the national markings. Actually this is the reason the model in question, derived from the old KP L-39, got the second prize in the specific category of the local IPMS competition in 2005.
And one model of the thing in 1/72 done by myself circa one year ago.
Banshee,
The Tanzanian J-6 is an impressive find indeed. Beaoucup de chapeau as the French say.
Did you receive by chance other similar pics ?
I seem to remember that last year AFM reported on US special forces using new MI-8/17 helos.
I did some reasearch and it seems that around 40 aircraft were delivered to PLAAF by 1967.
Unfortunately I do not know at what year the PLAAF obtained them but I guess somewhere in the 80′. I think I should have somewhere a pic of a L-29 in PLAAF insignia, probably taken at Datang Shan.
It seems to me to be quite similar with the Chzech L-29. The Chinese obtained a few of them but I am not sure abouth the way they used them.
Cthornburg,
Nice finds! Any idea on the camo scheme of the Nigerian MiG 15 UTI ?
Interesting clarification. In fact I posted that immage by mistake. My original intention was to post the following one which does not seem to be the same aircraft.
Still some water in the old well:
Here comes another pic
MiG 17 Mozambique
MiG 21 UM .
The grey one seems quite curious to me . Any idea if it was acquired during the 90′ ?
PLAAF J-6 shot down during the border conflict with Vietnam.
