Quick update:
Managed to have an hour nosing around Shuttleworth yesterday morning – taking time off work to look after my 4yo son.
Lots of activity in hangar 1 – notably the Polikarpov with its wings on – looking rather good. She sure is a big old thing.
Anyway, the nice chap working on the Polikarpov confirmed that for the Spitfire the wings are next, after the fuselage – and the work will take probably another couple of years.
A long time, but will be worth it – I think this AR501 will be better than factory fresh and with as much original as possible when she is done.
Superb work!
Robert Rudhall’s BoB photo album book. A rare sight these days, it took me a while to find my copy. I’ll be interested to see how much it makes as the ‘text’ version is often listed but rarely seems to sell.
Fantastic achievement! Great to see such progress on the car door restoration.
Wonder if Shuttleworth could make a similar position to CAA about their aircraft.
If they are Romain’s posters, some can be found at the following website:

Romain has also had a stand at Legends the last few years, and if you visit at the right time he is there to sign posters and books etc.

I will second that, we have had some great days at Old Warden too with PT fying these aircraft in and out of, with a spirited display in the middle (I hope that will continue with the spit and P-51) . Thank you Peter.
Well in the 10+ that i’ve been to i can’t ever recall they needed to turn anyone away having reached capacity. I’ve sometimes made the decision on the day whether or not to attend, in part based on weather and in part on the family commitments at weekends. I’ve also never had a problem with traffic at these shows, so can only assume it is the organisers seeking to assure their revenue in the event of bad weather.
There is no other show like it in the UK, so I’ll be hoping to attend again in 2016, but will wait and see what the advance ticketing terms are.
Thanks. I’ll give them a call tomorrow. Fingers crossed.

Edging up towards 400 views and no clues?
They had a book I really should’ve bought, so keen to have their contact details,…….
Wonderful photos. Thanks for posting.
Interesting to see the 3 bladed prop on the Typhoon in 1945 – I’d thought that most had been changed over to 4 blade by then.

Thanks for posting the pilot notes Duggy. A fascinating insight into flying these aircraft and some very interesting comparisons between types.
If you have more I for one would be keen to read them.

Phantom II,
I do hope you make it to Shuttleworth. It is a wonderful place to see these special aircraft and it is very different to a Duxford show. I would second the idea of trying to visit on a non-flying day as well as catching a display. Never mind the photographs, the SMELL of the WW1 types as you enter the Hangar is really something to be experienced!

Excellent stuff. Can’t wait to see some pics!
